Name: Hayley on Feb 9, 2007Comments: I would like to know what you mean by old monroes Cos I personally have been going monroes for many years and i dnt ever really remember it being full, unless it was a local band and the only reason it was full then was because of friends of the band. Maybe if you were abit more constructive and suggested bands you would like to see rather than just saying all the ones that are put on are shit you might get to see bands you like. Monroes is open to suggestions on bands that are put on!!! Fault by design doesnt put on every gig that happens at monroes. Monroes itself/ paul sherwin puts gigs on so why dnt you go to him and ask/suggest bands that you would like to see.Flag

Emo Do you people actually know what emo is The NX, For My Anger, Forever Never All who have played my nights, they are emo I don't think so. When I put on bands like Dashboard Confessional and Brand New, then get back to me with your emo comments. I do not do ALL the nights at Monroes, infact between now and August I only have 4 nights left. In May and April I don't actually have any. Well done, facts are great things. If you want to see bands, tell me what bands you want and I'll try my best to get them for you. There is no need for silly petitions about emo's cutting themselves. In July as requested by people I'm putting on a punk night, which will include local bands. I'm doing this because believe it or not, my favourite bands actually include the misfits, afi, offspring, dead kennedys etc. I'm also doing this because this is what people have asked me for. On the 17th, we're really lucky to get a pure rock and roll band like Anemic into Monroes, these guys have been in Kerrang! and have album sales all over the UK... they are emo I think not. Also Losing Sun, who are a pure metal band. NONE of these bands so far have been emo. I was basically called into Monroes, to get in acts which the people who were sick of seeing the same bands at Monroes wanted to see. On my rock nights I don't even have use of the proper PA, I use the inhouse one. People are getting at these nights, yet the bands that come to play all want to come back and talk endlessly to me about how good Workington was to play. It makes me sick to see alternative people, turning on other alternative people. Maybe we should all turn into chavs. I'm sure they'll change their decision now, and silly 'emo' comments will spoil the nights for the people that actually enjoy them. As for the 30 ticket sales. 2nd Sept - 127 tickets sold Halloween - 189 tickets sold The rest have never sold under 75, apart from one which sold 35 and was on the night of Rock 24/7 at Whitehaven. It also saddens me to see that a couple of people I would call 'friends' have signed this petition. I used to be in a local band myself. I'm also a local, and for many years have been going to Monroes. If anyone wishes to argue this, please feel free to hit me back. Hayley Lou Faultbydesignpromotions and Bookings.Flag

Basically, if you don't like the music, Don't go to the gigs, its obvious ain't it I can't actually belive someone would actually be stupid enough to put this up. I hate anyones type of music being Diss'd, So let people get there music out there.. Let who ever wants to play at monroes, PLAY! Keep monroes a friendly place where no one has a problem with the music, or the atmosphere. I'm done.Flag

If you don't like the music scene and want to make a positive change, form a band or organise a gig for your mates band - not slag other bands off because you're too daft and lazy to start your own band. it's quite easy really. And to the people who started this petiotion, im not really a fan of contemporary "emo / hardcore meralcore" etc . . . . . but get a fucking life - the bandwagon for ripping "emos" has long gone.Flag
