Scott CobbThe federal death penalty has been disproportionately sought against members of minority groups. Since 1988, the federal government has authorized seeking the death penalty against 382 defendants. Of the 382 approved prosecutions, 278 (73%) were against minority defendants.

Gilles DENIZOTMr. President-elect, I live in Europe, where death penalty has been abolished and I am friend of America. I know your country well and I understand the sensitivity of this topic. Nevertheless the USA eventually will have to join the community of civilized countries who oppose this barbaric punishment. By abolishing death penalty, the USA will no longer be compared to Iran and China (and some others) who mercilessly murder human beings. Mr. President-elect, we have supported you during your campaign, we have placed great hopes in you, in the symbol you represent, a symbol of justice, respect, and righteousness. Please show us that we were right. YES YOU CAN abolish the death penalty! Respectfully yours, Gilles DENIZOT

Paige WoodWe must abolish the death penalty; it does not deter crime, and it only creates more victims...of which I am one.
Rosemary RayWe must end the barbaric practice of capital punishment. Two wrongs do not make a right!
Lenton RayCaptial punishment brings shame to our great nation. The United States is one of the few industrialized democracies that still practice this form of torture, and we must stop it. There are alternatives to the death penalty, and it is high time we started using them!
Eleanor WatkinsPlease, please show mercy and do not carry out this execution. There are at the least, grave doubts over the justice of this sentence. At worst, the untimely and unjustified killing of an innocent man would leave a stain on the record of the American judicial system. Please remember that our God is a God of justice, but who loves mercy.
Elliot KraljTexas has a put many innocent people on death row...just as your state of Illinois has. Please put a stop on this system so that we can further examine this irreversible punishment.
SandieAbolish the death penalty
Dan Taylor
Renate MariPlease stop the death penalty. There also innocent people still on death rows nationwide. 130 have so far been exonerated and this shows that there are far too many errors in the judical system and not adequate legal representation available to most persons in this situation.

Heather BurkeDeath by lethal injection is cruel and unusual in this country, despite a recent Supreme Court decision stating otherwise. All death sentences are cruel. Your stance on the death penalty is unacceptable and must be changed.
