The preponderance of full time employee’s in our business has long ago past with over 90% of our industry freelance-daily hire’s, but our contracts are negotiated by people who come from the remaining minority full time staffers. We the freelance and daily hire’s working under local 11 NABET contract for years have felt like second class employees in any contract negotiations. We firmly belief their is a two tiered system that gives us second class working conditions regarding, health, pension and travel and As a result we think de-authorization of local 11is called for. IF 30% of the bargaining unit sign this petition than an election will be held and If 51 % percent of us vote and approve de-authorization, then we will work under the current contract rules until it expires but allowing us to withhold dues. If at the end of the contract and we feel that our conditions have not improved we will more than likely decertify and seek better representation. . Therefore we the undersigned employees, constituting 30% or more of the bargaining unit covered by a contract between local 11 NABET and NBC/Universal wish to withdraw the authority of Local 11 of NABET to enter into and enforce the union security clause in our contract. The undersigned employees petition the National Labor Relations Board to hold a de-authorization election to determine whether the majority of employees wish to withdraw the authority of the union and the employer to enter into and enforce the union shop clause in the contract.
