The residents of 'South Charlotte" are unfairly taxed without fair representation. As a result, we pay an inordinate amount of taxes into local government but do not get services or resources back from local government equal to what we contribute. As a result, we are burdened with unrealistic taxes and our roads, schools, public safety are unacceptable relative to our collective contributions. 
As a result, we are petitioning the NC State Legislature to De-Annex the southern area of Charlotte from the City of Charlotte and to either: 
- create a new, independent town 
- create an unincorporated territory 
- allow the surrounding Southern Mecklenburg towns to expand their borders and include our area into their smaller towns 
- some combination of the above
