Danylo Chebanenko is a 20-year-old orphan student from Ukraine. He is currently living in Winter Park, FL where attends Full Sail University for the Music Business Bachelor’s of Science program. He arrived in the U.S. on July 4, 2013 to attend his current school. In the fall of 2013, situations in Ukraine became very bad and have only continued to worsen. A devastating war began on the eastern side of the country, in which Danylo’s hometown is located. Hundreds of people have been killed since and tensions are only rising. Danylo’s original plan was to sell his apartment in order to help pay for his college tuition. Unfortunately, people are not purchasing real estate due to the high tensions and continuous war. This has left Danylo without funds to continue his tuition payments. On April 1, 2014, He applied for asylum, but has yet to receive news regarding his acceptance. Danylo is running out of money to afford living and is unable to work because he has an F-1 visa. He is on financial probation at school right now, but they are attempting to work with him so that he can continue his education. He is an excellent student, a member of the Excellence Program, has a 3.55 GPA, and has an ambitious mind. On July 20, 2014, he received the devastating news that his house had been bombed (see attached image). These bombings continue to occur everyday in his hometown, where residents are living in basements in order to stay safe. Because of the danger in his hometown, he is not able to return to Ukraine. This petition is addressed to the Miami Asylum Office, asking them to quicken the process of asylum so that he can begin working and pay for his accommodations.
