The closing of these 18 schools across New Jersey would be an injustice for the children with severe multiple disablities and for children with unique needs that can't be met in neighborhood schools. These children would be uprooted from a loving, nurturing, and least restricted learning environment that was created just for them. Now due to budgets, and the State of New Jersey Department of Children and Families Office of Education, and the pretense of doing what is best for these children, they plan on closing or restricting their educational needs. Is this right Can neighborhood schools service the needs of these children Can they provide the medical needs these children need on a daily basis Are they handicapped accessible Do they have enough money allocated in their budgets to meet the needs of these individuals Some schools will need these services and equipment ready by this September. Will the dedicated staff be able to find new jobs I don't believe so.
Is this fair By signing this petition, you are agreeing to keep these 18 DCF Schools of New Jersey opened and intact to continue their great work with these special children. Thank you!
My son has been at one of these schools for 3 years and he finally feels safe and happy. Neighborhood schools have no idea how to handle his medical needs. Please stop this now before these kids have nowhere to go.
