To the West Chester Area School District Board,

We, the parents of students attending Delaware County Christian School, petition the WCASD Board to make changes to the five bus routes, #106, #107, #108, #130, #132. The changes we ask for are:

a) to remove the transfer of all 185 DC WC students at Episcopal Academy, to allow a registered 23 students to board.  The actual number of Episcopal kids who board the bus every day is much less than 23.  This adds at least 15 minutes on to each DC student's commute to stop at Episcopal.

b) to re-route the above mentioned buses to go straight from the DC campus to the scheduled stops in a timely fashion in the afternoon, and to re-route these same buses for the morning commute to shorten the lengthy ride times.

Prior to the transfer, which started on October 19th, 2009 (7 weeks into the school year and with little notification to parents), the buses would run approximately 15 minutes past their estimated arrival time home.  After the transfer, the times have not changed, but kids must board the buses earlier and go through the transfer for such a small amount of kids (avg. 2-3 per bus). 

Without the Episcopal stop altogether, the bus would get to its scheduled stops in the afternoon at their estimated times.  This saves the children 15-20 minutes per day, over an hour each week on the bus.  The morning ride times are also incredibly long, even though these do not include Episcopal children.  The routes and times need to be revised so children are not spending over 90 minutes on a commute to get to school in the morning.
