Name: Gaik Cheng Khoo on Sep 28, 2003Country: SGComments: As a Malaysian academic/researcher based in Singapore, I am ashamed and appalled at the paternalistic and narrow vision of the committee. If such high-handed and narrowminded guidelines from above are imposed, we can again compare ourselves to the situation of censorship and nannyism in Singapore. And woe betide us then! The DBKL should reflect its confidence in the maturity of KL audiences thus far. During all the many years of challenging theatre in Malaysia, which has ever caused violent riots When has discussion, healthy debate and laughter ever led to violence And aren't we civilised and educated enough to use our brains for thinking, our mouths for discussion and our hearts for communication amongst and across ethnicities and religious beliefs instead of resorting to sticks and stones We have grown up. It's time the folks at DBKL grow up too. 2020 isn't all that far away.Flag
