Respected City Administrators/Officials, We, the residents of Daytona Beach, cricket players, and cricket followers together request you to provide us with one dedicated field to play cricket. We are in critical need for a dedicated cricket ground to not only sustain the sport of cricket in the area; but also to promote the game of cricket that can be a great way for people to come together and do something positive with their time. There are several thousand cricket enthusiasts that have made Daytona Beach, FL their home & we do not have a place to practice the sport we love. Cricket is a bat-and-ball sport contested by two teams, usually of eleven players each.[1] A cricket match is played on a grass field, roughly round in shape, in the center of which is a flat strip of ground 22 yards (20.12 m) long, called a cricket pitch. A wicket, usually made of concrete with carpet covering. Despite having the lack of playing facility we have been helped by area schools that have so far let us utilize their vacant field. But in order for us to grow and help the growth of cricket; we need your support and help in having a dedicated field that we can call our home of cricket in the Daytona Beach area. We hereby petitioning the city to have a cricket field either dedicated or as part of some other field where we the residents of Daytona Beach can play and practice.
