THE UNDERSIGNED ARE SEEKING TOWN COUNCIL SUPPORT TO PRESERVE OUR RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD QUALITY OF LIFE WITH APPROPRIATE DEVELOPMENT AT DAVIS AND HIGH HOUSE AND DENY THE PROPOSALS AND AMENDMENTS SET FORTH IN: 06-MU-07 MIXED USE SKETCH PLAN THE CORNERSTONE (ORUM CROSLAND) DEVELOPMENT 06-REZ-31 SEARS FARM PLANNED DEVELOPMENT DISTRICT AMENDMENT (SEARSTONE) We the undersigned live, work and play in Cary. We believe that the combined impact of the existing, planned and proposed development for the intersection of Davis Drive and High House Road is too dense and is inappropriate for our residential community. Therefore, we object to the zoning applications for the Cornerstone (Orum Crosland) development on the northeast corner and the amendments to the SearStone development on the southeast corner of the intersection of Davis Drive and High House. These proposals will bring unacceptable levels of traffic congestion, further stress our already overburdened schools, and negatively impact the quality of life in our residential community, a community that is nationally recognized as a great place to live and raise a family. We believe that the proposed levels of development violate the letter and intent of existing land use plans. We are opposed to overcrowded schools, excessive population density, dangerous traffic congestion, unneeded business space that may lead to vacant storefronts, intersections unfriendly to pedestrians and bicyclists, and businesses intended to attract motorists outside the intended service area of the development. We respectfully direct the Planning and Zoning and Town Council to deny the amendments to the SearStone development and the application for the Cornerstone (Orum Crosland) mixed-use development.
