My name is David M. Johnson. I am a Congressional Candidate, FEC ID# HONY 16101 running for the United States Congress, 16th Congressional District, Bronx County, New York, as an Independent Democrat. Why Independent Democrat? I have a Vision for my district and the nation with the ability to think outside of the box. I strongly believe in putting the priorities of the people first, like job creation, affordable housing and healthcare, education reform, immigration that does not discriminate and safe communities, before the party. It’s time to stop sending politicians with no connection to the community to office, by voting for them over and over again, that do not serve the people’s best interest with their failed policies, while bankrolling self interests with our tax dollars. It’s Time to send a Serious Candidate, For Serious Issues, For Serious Times, who can identify with the critical issues that we all face within the 16th district and the nation. The incumbent, Congressman Serrano has been incapable of coming to grips with the socio-economic disparities that has stigmatized the district, as one of the poorest in the nation for the twenty years he has held the office and has left our communities, in remarkable disarray. Yet with such an embarrassing record, the incumbent continues to assume that he is unbeatable. The filing dates for my petitions, as an Independent Candidate are August 12 – August 15th, 2010. During this time, the goal is to secure at least 3,900 to 4,000 signatures. The Primary Election is September 14th, 2010. As your Congressional Candidate, I will work with our residents to find the answers together and to rebuild, transform and reinvent our district from one of the smallest and poorest districts in the nation to one of the most innovative, unified and prosperous. The people of the Bronx and the 16th District have learned a valuable lesson that looms very large here in our communities, they are tired of the business as usual politics that has not been able to provide a stable roof over their heads, put food on the table for their families and provide a real future for our children.
