Cerebus reader and woman here; I always found Dave's reflections within or without the comic welcome and refreshing even when they were harsh. The letter columns were an absolute joy. He drew a Regency Elf for me at a signing once and was super sweet.

Dave's not a misogynist per se. He's a misanthrope, if anything. Is he unkind to women in his book? Sure. Is he any kinder to men? Nope. Do I agree with all his ideas? Nope. Does he force me to think about my own ideas? Yep!

I really feel bad for Dave. Seems time has not been kind to him. The brilliant are often bonkers. Does he hate women - no. Does he not appreciate some of their traits - maybe. Do some women take offence at some male traits - definitely (they'll tell you so). So he voiced his dislikes through his medium (big mistake in the PolCorrect World). I think the Cirinists literally acted like their real World counterparts.

In my opinion, one of the greatest narrative artists of all time. His viewpoints aren't always parallel to mine, but they always make me think. I respect that. I don't exactly know if this petition is necessary. I will, however, sign it, as I don't think he's a misogynist.

Brilliant writer and artist with strong, no holds barred, opinions. Not a misogynist. To evolve as a society we must have people who have the courage to speak their minds even against populist opinion.

If anyone took the time to actually read what Mr. Sim was writing, without a knee jerk reaction to either attack or defend, they would find a series of profound truths that are not conclusory but observation. I cannot tell you how many times, particularly in recent years, his definition of Mother/Daughter were useful both personally and professionally.

It's Friday 9thNov'18 and I received a letter from Dave today. - More kind and thoughtful words from a real gentleman. - We have been writing to each other for decades. - Dave invited me and the mother of my eldest daughter into his life for a few days in 1999. Dave remained true to himself while also giving caring advice to both of us, Our child was to be born half a year later. - England does not encourage devoted parenting from both parents, and life became tough. - Soon after my life became mostly devoted to caring for my eldest daughter, and also to this day my youngest. My photojournalism took a lesser place because of the extra time and care I have had to devote as a Father. - I regretted sending a letter about this a few years ago to Canada as soon as it dropped into the postbox. To me, it seemed too indulgent on my part, but a few months later Dave replied with an incredibly moving account of a close friend of his. - To receive such a letter, written with such empathy and sadness and caution... - ..I create photographs because I haven't the talent to express in words. - ( Dave has mastered both art-forms. ) - This arrived when I was in the middle of a one-thousand-pager piece of work I was completing on behalf of Phoenix's liberty, which took me half a year to finish, part of over seven years ( and counting ) of work. Every iota of support was paramount with such an important task to complete accurately. Most welcome. Really. Six months work finished within a few hours of the deadline, with steam pouring out of my radiator of my old Saab 900, which I had zero time to repair the radiator, other than to top up with water every journey to photocopiers, or the final post office. - You never forget the people who supported you at times like that. - Dave has never wavered in being a caring man in all the years I am proud to have known him. As far as the distance is geographically between Britain and Canada, Dave has bridged it with his kind and thoughtf

Dave is not always easy, but who the f is? He’s a great man and one of the most innovative artists/writers/letterers the comics field has ever had. Dave, I hope your life is fun.
