Name: Anonymous on Dec 1, 2006Comments: These cameras are not for safety just another way for government to get money. Where does it stop, when is enough enough. I live in America not communist China! It's time to take back our rights and dignity I'm tired of being walked on and used for a door mat. This goes for the speed cameras as well.Flag

Name: Jonathan Sentineal on Aug 31, 2008Comments: These cameras should not be allowed to operate in our city! They cause more accidents when people have to slam their brakes to avoid getting a ticket and sometimes there is no way you can avoid stopping (with weather conditions so flexible in this area) which is rediculousFlag

I also warn friends, familly, customers, & clients to avoid davenport because you cant keep your hands out of our pockets. Taxation without proper representationFlag

Name: T on Mar 2, 2010Comments: It is the sole responsibility of the DA to prove guilt of traffic violations. They first must prove the violation took place and have evidence proving it was you that acted criminally. Without this quintessential part, there is no case. Do not just pay these tickets, you must argue them in court, have the charges dismissed, so that the cameras will be removed. In addition, many of the street lights are not linked together. You can actually drive down Locust and hit every red light. This is not Chicago, we dont have a million people during rush hour. We simply have an incapable city engineer that is unable to update the lights so that traffic flows more freely. Many violators run red lights because of the back to back traffic and frustation it takes to commute. There is no reason for the lights to be red on Locust at 6am on workdays. Many cities have lights that blink yellow on the main streets and red on the cross streets until 7am.Flag

Name: John Reimann on Mar 11, 2010Comments: Purely a revenue generator, if it is not, prove it by giving away all proceeds to a local homeless charity or Mothers Against Drunk Driving. My concern is where is this all going to stop? The technology exists today to put a GPS tracking device on every car in America, then send us a ticket anytime we violate a speed limit or fail to make a complete stop. I don't want to live in a police state, if I want to speed while going down a wide open road then that's my choice as long as I don't affect the safety of others. You just can't save us from all possible harm, I'd rather live in a society of freedom and some risk, than a police state full of entitlements and no freedom.Flag

How does getting a piece of paper in the mail after the fact help the situation!? This is how government get fat and lazy.Flag
