Unlimited Usage for BSNL DataOne users till 30-06-05

Dear Sir,

We the users of BSNL’s DataOne service would like to appreciate you for the quality of broadband services being provided. Unfortunately that is not something that can be said regarding your customer care divisions and your district officials.

When most of us initially started applying for BSNL's DataOne connections, we were told by the officials at the respective commercial offices that there would be "no limit" on data transfers till the end of June 2005, (30-06-2005) irrespective of when we registered for the service. Later on some of us accidentally noticed that it was mentioned on the BSNL website, that users who "joined" the service on or before the 31st of March, 2005 were the only ones who were eligible for the unlimited data transfers till the end of June.

On further probing into the matter we got mixed reports. Till date there are some officials who claim there will be “no charges” for exceeding the Data Transfer limits till June 30th, 2005, irrespective of when the user signed up for the service, while there are some who claim that the users who "joined" the service after the 31st of March will be charged in full for exceeding the data limit. This is just not a good display of business ethics.

Firstly, none of your officials seem to have the remotest idea regarding what they are talking about, and secondly, nobody is able to clarify for us whether "join the service on or before the 31st of March" refers to having registered for the service before the 31st of March or whether the connection was installed before the 31st of March. We all seem to be getting varied answers from all your officials around India. We are not able to comprehend how a company as large as BSNL is so unorganized to the extent that all the top officials are so misinformed. This is definitely not a good show of Public Relations on BSNL's part.

Most of us have been patrons of BSNL for so many years now and this is not how BSNL should treat it's customers by leaving them dangling without giving them any idea as to where this is all heading. Moreover it is highly unacceptable for your offices to misinform customers regarding the services you provide. Based on what we have all read on the BSNL website, it now appears that all customers were initially lied to about whether the data transfers will have a limit or not while registering for the DSL connections.

Due to lack of provision of any legitimate information from BSNL to the DataOne users, both, during the time of registration for the connection and later on, after the connection was installed, it seems only fair that you, the authorities at BSNL cancel any and all data transfer limits till the end of June, 2005 for all users country wide irrespective of when they "joined" the service.


We the users of the BSNL’s DataOne Broadband service appeal to you to make a decision that is favourable to all it's customers and one that is communicated unequivocally and effectively through all your offices country-wide.
