Name: Anonymous on Jul 20, 2006Comments: This governor promised us government run more like a business. No commercial establishment could survive a track record like that of the Indiana BMV. I waited more than TWO HOURS for a simple driver's license renewal at the Beech Grove branch BEFORE the computer "upgrade!" Save the apologies, governor. Talk is cheap. Fix this mess.Flag

Name: Barbara Moulton on Jul 20, 2006Comments: I have attempted for over 2 weeks to get on the website to renew and have been unable to. I have also tried the quick renewal machines and all are down. I have driven by BMV's in 2 locations to see people packing the buildings with a wait time up to 4 hours. This is not acceptable service. In the private industry no company would survive with a computer costing $32 million being unworkable for this length of time.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Jul 20, 2006Comments: The problems the BMV has been experiencing is unacceptable. It's time to make changes and put competent people in charge of making things right. People who report problems with their employer (including a government agency) should not be fired. Please do the right thing and replace Joel Silverman with someone who can do the job right.Flag

Name: Brian Massey on Jul 20, 2006Comments: I have been in disagreement with the Commissioner's tactics since he took office. I knew at the time it was a horrible and mismanaged idea to remove the Express Renewals lines from the branches, and to fall victim to useless PR tactics like removing the customer-focused Now Serving... number system as well. Now, I believe we have proof positive, thousands-fold, of the incompetence of this employee and his mind you, appointment, to that position. The disruption of even simple tasks as plate renewals (some currently due in the midst of this mess), plate lookups by police, the online and self-service terminals, all while having less customer focus due to several years of cuts and, in my opinion, bruises is absolutely no longer excusable. This person has been in this position far too long, and fouled things up beyond belief. Commisioner Silverman should been ousted from the huge computer-cost scandal a while back (foreshadowing), not to mention the internal fraud scandals from illegal license issuances. This current disaster is merely the most publicly noticeable insult to the constituants he is supposed to be working for, not above.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Jul 20, 2006Comments: I feel that the commissioner at the BMV is getting away with many things that would not be allowed if he were at a different job. The BMV employees are rude and not properly trained, they treat you as though you don't matter, even when you are handing over a check to them for almost 1,000.00 to register two vehicles. I bought a new home last March and I have gone into the BMV countless times to have my address changed and be issued a new license, every time that I have gone in, the machines have been down or something else has been worng and I have not been able to change my address. I hate to see the commissioner on television spots talking about how the BMV is improving service and working on reducing wait times in the BMV when I know that this is not taking place. He needs to be replaced with someone who is more competent and can readily do the job without being defensive about taking criticism. It is the public's tax dollars that are paying for this and we should have a say in how it is run. Gov. Daniels needs to step it up and do the right thing and replace Silverman with someone more competent, like my six year old, he could do a better job than Silverman.Flag
