| 1151 | DITCH MITCH NOT MY MAN |
| 1152 | My recent experience with a routine driver's license renewal was reminiscent of the 70's; the only difference now is that there are chairs....once you can get to that point. Long lines and a process that moves at the rate of frozen molasses. Why bother to have a 'sign in' line in which we must STAND before we get a 15-second encounter in that area before we can sit down, to wait again. In previous visits, I have waited for 45 minutes standing in the 'sign in' line. Joy of joys, they have put carpeting on the wall so that we can lean on it while we stand, waiting, to 'sign in'. In this visit, about 12 people stood in line for at least 15 minutes while the 'sign in' person argued with a customer. The 'sign in' person should have used common sense and moved that person off to the side to be dealt with directly so that the rest of us with normal business could progress.
Also, when trying to renews license plates earlier in the year, surprise, I find the bureau is closed. Surprise, your choice is a computerized monstrosity in the separate little un-heated/un-air-conditioned glassed-in area at the front of the branch; however, while one is trying to enter personal, confidential information, anyone else waiting is free to stand by our side, observing our entire transaction while we stand struggling with papers, credit cards, purses, children, etc.
And wasn't that a typical response to someone pointing out the problems the head honchos not only are aware of but don't give a fig about, so they 'shoot the messenger'. Don't dare point out their failures. I wonder if Govnr Daniels stands in the 'sign in' line, leaning on a carpeted wall, for his plates and driver's licenses?
With Daniels, voters got a Bush crony, a Bush clone; what did they expect? |
| 1153 | I'm just wondering what happened to customer friendly...it's not the employees causing the problem..it's Silverman's "new" system that has been in some of the branches for 2 years and still is not working!! What happened at the Mishawaka branch and the Scottsburg branch..dedicated employees fired and replaced with Silverman's puppets |
| 1154 | We have had enough of Joel; Silverman, a Galyan's reject. Why would Mr. Daniels ever think these corporate rejects he has placed as Commissioners could do right? Silverman's gotta go Mitch. Do it! |
| 1155 | customer service is a total disgrace. we renewed by mail and still have not received them. We have several cars and boats all expired. |
| 1156 | I am not a democrate, but i see a great injustice happening here. if someone reports a problem with a system, should he/she be repromanded for it? i would hope not,as it will benefit all who use it, and will make the company look better in the publics eye. i am sorely dissapointed in the way the state has handled the BMV, i think a major reconstuction needs to hapen to make it run more effectivly. by that i dont means fire or eleminate more jobs. i think you need to find a better way to handle buisness. if the BMV was a private buisness how long do you think it would stay in buisness if it opperated the way it does? |
| 1157 | |
| 1158 | To continue to support an individual who does not seem "up to the task" of fixing the BMV problem is beyond understanding. Gov. Daniels was elected by the people of the State of Indiana, not the people of Galyans. Gov. Daniels decision to hire someone who had managed a bankrupted business was questionable from the beginning. Given Silverman's history at management, this could almost have been predicted. |
| 1159 | Tell Galyan's good by.
Let people wear regular clothes, not uniforms. Get the BMV in order. |

RE: 2Q2416/3C4FY4BB81T698920
Dear Commissioner:
This letter is going to take an extremely negative and sarcastic tone because that is exactly what this situation calls for – I will not apologize for the tone. It is also as complete as I can possibly make it.
The last week of June, I received my application for vehicle registration renewal from the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles (see copy enclosed)…same as I have for the past several years. I have always appreciated the convenience of mail-in registration so on July 1, I sent my renewal along with my check for $93.25 in the envelope provided...same as I have for the past several years. According to the document, if a person renews by mail by July 15, the plate or sticker will be received by the end of the expiration date. Knowing that over the weekend of July 4, the BMV was attempting a new agency-wide computer system conversion and major upgrade to improve customer service, I quickly sent in my renewal. As of the date of this letter (one month from the conversation), according to the BMV website… Online Services are still unavailable which makes me wonder how the conversion is going at the branches and mail-in center in Winchester.
On July 11, my check was cashed by the Bureau of Motor Vehicles (see copy of Wells Fargo Online confirming the date it was posted to my account).
On July 31, I received a letter dated July 25, 2006 (envelope date-stamped July 26) which I have enclosed. The notification states there is an ‘inconsistency’ and the BMV is unable to process my registration renewal neither at the mail center nor at any self-service (Internet, SST or phone) options. I DO appreciate the fact that I received this letter on the last date possible before my license plate expired and I DO appreciate that the notification gives me 60 days to visit a local license branch (which was closed to improve customer service) to renew my registration.
I wish to know what the discrepancy or inconsistency could possibly be considering that I purchased this car in April of 2003 and have plated it in the state of Indiana through the BMV each and every year I have owned it (as you can see from the copies of the Certificate of Vehicle Registration). Same car, same owner, same insurance company and policy (see enclosed copy of card), same SS #….
My suspicion is that the discrepancy comes from either my last name or my address. Let’s go with the name – I purchased the car in April 2003 using my married name of Dotty Myers (as you can see from my IPFW student ID); I was officially divorced later that year and my name changed to Dotty Miller. I submitted a name change document and copy of the divorce decree at the license branch when I renewed my driver’s license (as you can see from the copy enclosed and the copy of the Social Security card enclosed) and re-plated the vehicle. So, for the past TWO years, a Certificate of Registration has been issued to Dotty S. Myers without incident. The BMV (from which I received both my license and my plates/registration) had documentation that I was one and the same. Evidently, the BMV didn’t feel that having a different name on my check that was cashed was an ‘inconsistency’. If, however, the discrepancy is from the address on the Registration…that information had to be shortened and input by an employee of the Bureau of Motor Vehicles. The address is 5908 SAWMILL WOODS COURT not 5908 SWMLL WOODS COURT as you can see from my check that was cashed and my driver’s license. The United States Postal Service recognized my name and address as Dotty S. Myers, 5908 Swmll Woods Ct, Fort Wayne, IN 46835 when they delivered the mail from your department.
I would appreciate receiving a timely response to my inquiry and my 2007 sticker without having to make an unnecessary trip to an inconvenient license branch to solve an inconsistency that has never been a problem in the past. |
| 1162 | You haven't even reached the "tip of the iceburg" yet! If you'd like to know why my Drivers Licence was "unjustly" suspended three (3) years ago;... send me an e-mail. damhenry1@aol.com |

| 1164 | We need a change but I am not a democrat |
| 1165 | Gov. Daniels there is a PROBLEM ITS YOUR JOB TO SEE WE AS TAXPAYERS GET OUR MONEYS WORTH! Do YOUR JOB! THANKYOU! |
| 1166 | The old system that required the customer to take a number was much better. It is difficult to hear if your name is being called and it also invades individual privacy. I have never seen the license bureau in such a disorganized state as it is now. |
| 1167 | Let's get this thing working right for Hoosiers and the lives of our law enforcement officers. |
| 1168 | |
| 1169 | |
| 1170 | The commissioner must be held accountable and must go!! This would not happen in the private sector! |
| 1171 | |
| 1172 | |
| 1173 | |
| 1174 | I received the form to mail in for my registration and tags, I did so on 6/17/06. My check cleared the bank on 6/26/06. My plates expired on 7/15/06, I waited, on 7/26/06 I went into the BMV (Pendleton Pike) had to wait for almost 2 hrs., (Which is lost work time for me) to fix this matter. If I had owed the state money for six weeks, I would have been charged interest or late fees, but the state can hold my money for 6 weeks not hold up to their end of the contract and it costs them nothing and me even more. I don't think this system works or is fair. |

| 1176 | Please correct the BMV situation!!!! It is impossible to get good service!!! |

| 1180 | It took 4 visits to renew my
vehicle registration!
That's not very sensible! |

| 1183 | Add my name to the signature list for the removal of Joel Silverman. |

| 1185 | |
| 1186 | Government is supposed to be the source of citizen services. NOT THE ELIMINATOR OF THEM. |
| 1187 | |
| 1188 | You protect big business interests. If businesses operated as poorly as BMV, they would be OUT OF BUSINESS. FIX BMV! Silverman has to GO! |

| 1192 | |
| 1193 | |
| 1194 | Governor Daniels,
For once admit you're wrong on an issue and do something about it! Your arrogance, failure to admit mistakes and refusal to address problems reminds me of our republican president. Nice job on selling out your fellow Hoosiers with the sale of the toll road also. Why don't you listen to who you're representing or should I say "governing" once in a while? |
| 1195 | Please make this change so we can get some relief. THis man has no empathy and is too robotic, a yes man, he needs to go. |
| 1196 | |
| 1197 | Mr.Si9lverman has not done his job in serving people to buy license plates. Closing branches, poor computer tie ups, and all the waiting time, are a few problems. It is time he is fired. |
| 1198 | Silverman is a joke, fire him. |
| 1199 | It took three visits to the DMV in Fort Wayne last month to get my son's permit. The first 2 visits had 3-5 hour waits, so we gave up. Can't IN do better than this? |
