Daniels needs to go back to corporate America where he can be oblivious to a constituency. He's no public servant; he only services his own ego. The BMV is just one example of Daniel's heavy-handed moves (some more major than others).
The first step in privitazion of governmental services is to weaken the governmental management. That manipulates the citizenry that a change is needed. Privatization is then proposed as an 'efficient solution'. Well, the better answer is to stop the gutting and strengthen the public system. Mitch Daniels is taking the destructive route.

Mitch needs to be ditched and take Silver(buddy)man along w/ him. Come on they are grown men and they can't even take responsibility for their own actions. Stop blaming everyone else, especially those poor employees that have to take the blunt of their mistakes. Those people have to put up with the RUDE public (admit it public we are rude to those people and they are just doing their jobs) all day and what do they do in return...fire them for pointing out the obvious. GROW UP!! And what is the deal with the hours? Go back to the hours before Silverman came into office. The BMV employees have families and lives too. EVERY Saturday, taking away vacation and holiday pay. What other state employee(s) work saturdays..... Silverman do you? By the way, the blue and Khaki...... look awful!!! Let the employees be themselves. REPLACE Silverman!!!!!!!!!

I work as a police dispatcher. This is a serious officer safety issue. Not getting plate and driver information when needed is a crucial link in public safety. This has gone on way too long.
Mr. Silverman has an arrogant and pompous attitude. He is the "General Sherman" of the Daniel's Administration.
we have had enough
GET RID of this ASSHOLE He is an IDIOT, You talked a big show until You got in then it is all different

I worked for the BMV for over 3 years as a trainer and since the Silverman regime has come in most of the CSRs feel they are neglected and unappreciated. As for the statements made by Commissioner Silverman that the BMV is "always open to accepting constructive criticism". This is not true at all. I was severely reprimanded for contacting Irene Lang with a suggestion (to which I never received a reply) and also for presenting some ideas that I had to the 2 District managers. The cronyism and nepotism that Silverman and Daniels vowed to end has just been replaced by the Galyan's cronyism and new managers cronyism.

I don't understand why people have to wait for 3 & 4 hours to transact business at the BMV, when once served it only takes about 5 minutes. Also, how can a public service building NOT have any public restrooms? It seens that is against the law. There were enough problems associated with the BMV prior to the closing of so many--now it is absurd. I think we have been reverted to being a third-world country in this respect.
It is with great honor that I sign this petition. Joel Silverman and his henchmen already had their minds made up to close the Bicknell, Indiana BMV before they had the town meeting. Now the community of Northern Knox County is paying for it with long lines and inadequate customer service. I believe the people of Knox County will not forget.

I have a relative who works for the bmv and they are unable to voice their opinion due to the fact of what happened to the bmv employee who sent the e-mail and got fired. They are very frustrated every night do the fact they spend all day telling the majority of their customers "Im sorry I am unable to process your work at this time, I'll make copies and give you permits until I am able to get your title and reg. or even driver license ran" Then to hear silverman say its not the computers but basically lack of training on csr's behalf. If it was the employees fault do to lack of training then why isent more training classes being offered. Its just an excuss to try and make up for their screw up. And the sad part is they cant admit they screwed up.
I sent my check in for the renewal tags as soon as I received the notice. That was early to mid June. It is now July 26 and no tags which expire the end of July. I firlmy believe everyone associated with the software applications at BMV be terminated. They cannot do the job they are being paid to do. The terminiations should start at the very top.
Our entire license system is a joke. Long lines, waiting up to an hour, 8 weeks for a title and now we can not even do speed titles. $5 fee to check the status on the internet is a rip off. You should be ashamed of what has happened to the license system in Indiana. Fire Silverman!!!!!!!!!
mitch closed the bmv in brownstown. we need to open it again

Gov. Daniels "wannabe" should terminate Mr. Silverman and should start packing his bag's because he as a slim chance to remain as Governor, He does as he please's and disregards the public opinion
Wife spent 3+ hours to get plates for new vehicle.
When we recieved our tags for '07, they were sent from a private firm in Winchester, In--how can he continur to privatize all of these functions without legislative approval--WE ARE THE STATE OF INDIANA??? Not a private corporation!!!
Silly me! I thought government by the people, for the people referred to all the people--not just those select few in office. But then anyone familiar with IPALCO should have known to expect it.
Silly me! I thought government by the people, for the people referred to all the people--not just those select few in office. But then anyone familiar with IPALCO should have known to expect it.
Silly me! I thought government by the people, for the people referred to all the people--not just those select few in office. But then anyone familiar with IPALCO should have known to expect it.

one of the many inconvenienced by a flawed system
What Daniels and Silverman have done to the BMV is rediculous! Then to turn around and blame the associates that work at the branch...I have a family member that works at a license branch, they are not allowed to speak the truth when it comes to the new system. They spend their day with customers getting in their faces while they cover for the incompetence of Daniels and Silverman..then Daniels and Silverman repay them by stabbing them in the back and blaming them for an inadaquet system!! These ladies work for beans...even after years of service! One lady with years of employment received an excellent review and NOT given a raise because she is making the most she can...$12 an hour for 371/2 hours a week and NO Overtime...some managers and assistant managers work way over the 371/2 hours and DO NO GET PAID FOR IT!! Why do these ladies do it....because they enjoy working with the public and try hard to give good customer service hoping to change just one persons opinion of the BMV!! So come on let's get rid of Daniels and Silverman and the whole Galyans bunch that Silverman hired in and know nothing about how a branch actuall works!! Maybe they should come into a branch and work the counter for awhile and see what these ladies do, put up with and have to know about not only the system but also about policy and procedure!!
It's also time to rethink where the Southgate branch is supposed to be relocated. The building in Waynedale is not at all suitable for their (or our) needs.
I am a law enforcement officer in Indiana. I am quite displeased with the new "upgrade" that was supposedly "successful" during the month of July. Two weeks ago I was able to obtain accurate license status on drivers I stopped & accurate vehicle registration info. Now, it is hit or miss on the accuracy reference these status's. Mostly miss. More often than not police officers cannot even get a return. The new license responses do not contain driving history when ran from our mobile computers in our vehicles like before. We no longer get license returns on vehicle registered owers when we run license plates. License & registration returns are no longer able to be saved to our name & vehicle banks with this new software. Now, more criminals with bad driving records are getting set free without citations or traffic arrests because the info we are receiving when running status's is not accurate. How are cops expected to serve our citizens when these problems persist? Indiana's police officers are outraged. There was not a problem with the old system & now we suffer while criminals go free. We demand accountability. This is hard for a me, a Republican, to submit but it's the truth.

I will let my true feelings be shown this November!
If you want to run government like a business, then changes need to be made. This level of customer service would not be acceptable in any business.
This is ridiculous what has happened to the BMV. Where I work, if I had messed up something this bad, I would be fired. But to fire a BMV employee that sent an e-mail to the Governor's Office alerting them to problems within the agency and with the new computer system that has caused many of the recent problems.is ridulous also. Please fire Joel Silverman not the employee!
I agree with the wording on the petition. It took 6 weeks to get my license plate that I had mailed.

After closeing all the BMV's, I now have to travel 35-40 minutes to do business. After arriving, there is a wait of 1 to 2 hours in a crowded waiting room. This should never have happened to the citizens of Indiana. They have taken a step backword to serve the people like government is supposed to! We as tax payers, demand better. It's time to replace Joel Silverman and replace him with a competant person who will listen to the citizens of Indiana!
It is hard or impossible to believe Mr. Silverman.
Government is a business and when an impompetent employee is detected, he must go.
I think the state should compensate those who waited or had to come back to complete their BMV business. My fee would be $50 an hour. It can come out of Silverman’s pocket.

We spent nearly 3 hours at the branch on S. Meridan Ave. today. A man who works there has a terrible attitude. One son got waited on and the other sat 2 hrs. more. They claimed they called his name 3 times, which they didn't as all 4 of us sat there the whole time.. You need to fix the problems now, not in the future.
