Thank you very much for your interest in the Dancing Cranes sculpture during the Richmond Archives Tea. We were very happy of the opportunity to showcase this project and listen to your thoughts on it. We intend to make this project happen with the City of Richmond’s approval for local art. The late Sergei Traschenko (sculptor of Minoru Horse) worked out all the design details and created the scale model you saw at the Archives Tea for the Dancing Cranes. All that’s left is the scaling and we have a team in place of local artists (friends of Sergei) that can create this beautiful bronze vision to its full 15’ – the project is possible. The City of Richmond has a budget for public art. We know this well from the recent discussions on the purchase of the pricey Biennale artworks. The Dancing Cranes is a sculpture that is not small in any aspect – size, vision or connection to our city - and its budget is almost a quarter of the lowest priced Biennale! Lets have Richmond discuss The Dancing Cranes as an option. It was designed by a local artist and would be made by local artists here in Richmond. All we need is your voice of support for The Dancing Cranes to find a home in Richmond. Let the City of Richmond know you want to see this local sculpture!
