Name: Alan Morris on Dec 24, 2012Comments: His numbers indicate he belongs in the HOF alone but for the reasons Pete Rose, Joe Jackson and others are being kept out of the HOF then Dale Murphy should be an unanimous selection. Best wishes to Murph!Flag

Name: Donald Godbee on Dec 29, 2012Comments: Consider this: In the 80's, only Eddie Murray and Mike Schmidt had greater numbers. Dale Murphy did not play on a MLB team in the northeast. In this great country, are you an all-american if you play outside the northeast? Murphy's numbers are without a doubt Hall of Fame numbers. What is amazing about his accomplishment is that he did this without good players surrounding him, while Schmidt and Murray did. It is scary to think he may have produced better numbers than Aaron if he had the supporting cast that Schmidt and Murray had. Dale Murphy should be remembered as a great American who contributed greatly to the sport and should be a reflection of the Hall of Fame and the ideals of the Hall of Fame. We should applaud his character with election and not diminish it by electing those who had none. Millions of children who visit the Hall of Fame each year should know that character counts when supplemented with integrity and humility. Today's children need examples of strong character, not indirect support of lacking and selfish character and unwise personal behavior. I am sure if Schmidt and Murray were asked, they would say without hesitation that "Murph" deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. Dale Murphy is what baseball is all about and my children know him as one of Major league baseball's greatest players with no regrets!Flag
