I lived out of the city for a long time where we didn't have one, and when I moved back and discovered that the original Daiquiri Ice was gone, after trying it once, I haven't ever been back. Trying to improve upon a perfect flavor was like trying to improve upon Coca-Cola. It can't be done. By changing this product, they've lost my business. |

| 192 | julie r | I am 46. Daquiri Ice was my favorite flavor for 30+ years, eaten with chocolate chip. I spent my career in marketing and I am shaking my head. BR must have been thinking, "Well, Daiquiri Ice has always been such a low (CONSISTENT!!!!) seller, either increase the sales or get rid of it." So they did some research to appeal to a younger target and made it a silly neon color, and gave it a taste profile that would appeal to I don't know who. Then they tested it for too-short a period of time and went with it, thus not measuring the pushback from loyal Daquiri Users. Here's the problem: they may have gotten away with this menu change, but the management group and product development team that did this will do other similar things, and the long-term cumulative effect of their decisions will eventually catch up to them, and then they will be scratching their heads, saying, "What did we do wrong?" And the answer will be the bad, small decisions like changing Daquiri Ice. YOU DON'T KEEP A PRODUCT FOR 30 YEARS THEN CHANGE IT. I worked for a company that had a product like that. It wasn't a particularly good, high-quality product, but their was an unwritten rule: we will never, ever change it because there is a cult following for it. There....I'm done venting. |
