WTF! D5100 offers 1080 at 30 and 24.

My point exactly, the newly announced D5100, http://nikonrumors.com/2011/04/04/nikon-d5100-and-me-1-us-msrp-prices.aspx, This new camera is using presumably the same chip as the D7000.  Same number of megapixels, it just makes sense right...??? This just proves the D7000 could be upgraded with firmware.  Come on Nikon, give us some 30 p love! Also, I'm not an engineer, so I can't really say that data rate is the only factor here, but here are some calculations. The D7000 does 24p at 1080 it comes out to about 2.6 mbps.  At 720 24, it is around 1.2 mbps.  That is less than half.  This tells me, if it can handle 1080 at 30, than it should be more than capable of handling 720 at 60!  Get the word spread on this!  Lets get more signatures, and make Nikon notice!  Lets get a firmware upgrade!Hey, while we're at it, don't mean to be greedy, but lets get that nice new 102,400 Iso option too!

Nikon says "We're not competing with the 5D"?

A friend of mine met a Nikon rep at a photo convention recently.  He asked the rep why the D7000, despite being such a capable stills camera, was lacking in various frame rate options offered by the Canons?  The reps response was that people are always comparing this camera to a 5D, but it is a different level camera, expense, frame size etc.  While he is completely right on this front, he clearly doesn't know his competition very well.  Perhaps the other people at Nikon don't either. The Canon models almost all have these features I am asking for.  Yes the 5D has them, but so does the 7D, 60D, T3i, and T2i.  The last 3 of which are less expensive than the D7000.  Lets not forget that the 60D and T3i also have the flip out LCD screen, another key video feature. Now Nikon cleary can't add a flip out screen with firmware.  However, they certainly could add different frame rate controls, ability to change aperture in live view, and other features...
