This petition is to let Richmond Council know that there is a need for secure cycle parking near the parade of shops in Ashburnham Road, Ham. There is space for bike stands next to the mosaic or outside Ham Library, opposite the shops. Secure bike parking will encourage cycling and prevent bicycles blocking the pavement and cycle theft.The idea is supported by Ham United Group (HUG) and our local Safer Neighbourhood Team. Making it easy for people to park their bikes also makes them more likely to stop and use the shops, thereby helping the local economy. Currently the nearest bike parking is opposite Grey Court School, outside Hansel & Pretzel on Ham Street which is not close enough to make it convenient for people to pop into the Ashburnham Road shops.
