The renovations are wonderful and the staff is informative and willing to talk with us when we go. It brings me from La Mesa into Chula Vista which I would normally not do.Flag

Name: Timothy Schenck on Nov 28, 2008Comments: I visited the Chula Vista Nature center for the first time in October 2008. I was blown away by the quality of the offering considering it has received very little publicity. I am launching a San Diego travel web site in the next few weeks with the hope of bringing national attention to lesser known San Diego attractions. The Chula Vista Nature Center is at the top of that list. Please keep it open!Flag

Everyone must begin to really understand how important and how very special our planet is.Flag

Name: Ashley Maurier on Nov 29, 2008Comments: This is a wonderful resource. San Diego has such a wealth of wildlife. By showing local species, the Chula Vista Nature Center connects people to the animals in their backyards. This helps develop understanding and perhaps a sense of stewardship for local wildlife.Flag

Name: John Vogel on Nov 29, 2008Comments: As an member of the Nature Center, I believe that it is one of the least know jewels of the region. Situated in the midst of the nature preserve it provides a rare opportunity to learn about the animals and plants native to San Diego County here in our community. I urge the Council to explore all viable options to balance the budget without closing this incredible resource.Flag

Name: Elizabeth Madrazo on Nov 29, 2008Comments: This center has meant a lot to my family and me. We have enjoyed the Center for many years as it is one of the few places that we have in the Chula Vista that celebrates a unique system like the wetlands. I fear that in closing it, greedy developers will see this as an opportuntiy for them to destroy one of the few pristine wetlands in the county. That would be going backwards, not progress!Flag

Name: Patricia Jones on Nov 30, 2008Comments: The Chula Vista Nature Center is like no other in San Diego County. I take my children there so that they may understand and connect with their environment, here, locally. We discuss our visits there for weeks afterward. I am so grateful to see my kids developing a sense of environmental responsibility, in part thanks to the Nature Center. My kids beg to go there! The Nature Center is a small investment, with immeasurable returns. Please find a way to save it.Flag

Name: Christine A.S. Malone on Nov 30, 2008Comments: How would people feel about Yosemite Park closing; the Strand, Discovery Park, etc. The Nature Center is a jewel of Chula Vista and worth saving. It is time unrealistic pension plans cease to exist and the good if the community is focused on. Simple pleasures like parks and the NC should take front seat in our priorities. How this early retirement and over compensative pension corruption began is unknown to me! Keep the NC, adjust pensions.Flag
