As Congress works to prevent the Fiscal Cliff there is one area that has not been discussed and it will help accomplish a reduction in the Federal budget and at the same time make Congress what it was supposed to me a Part-Time Citizen’s Government. By signing this Petition we are asking Congress to cut their salaries by 2/3 and End Pensions for all Congressional Members. End all Per Diem for housing by building a housing facility to house every member of Congress. If Congress Members got less money and no Per Diem; than they would finish Our Government work sooner. We have allowed the members of Congress to take Pay Raises without verbal and documented votes. Both Political Parties have been guilty of this practice. Cutting out the Per Diem and Reducing Salaries should and providing each Member of Congress with One Round-Trip Airline Ticket per session would further reduce the cost of Congress. This petition will be delivered to the New Congress when they take office In January. I plan to stress to the leaders of Congress that things would get done if they had a set time limited to be in Washington. Congress should produce and approve a budget and then leave town. Americans want good Government not one that continues to stay in Washington. If there is a National Emergency and the President calls Congress back then again they get their housing for free and travel to and from Washington. This is the American Peoples Government and for too long Congress has refused to recognize that fact.
