The Gateway Senior High School Class of 1988 wishes to petition the Board of Directors of Gateway School District, Monroeville, Pennsylvania, to officially name the basketball gymnasium within the Furrie Sports Complex, "Curtis Bray Gymnasium" in honor of the Gateway's first and only 12-letter athlete, Gateway's first ever Gatorade National Player of the Year (1987), a dedicated scholar recruited by the top Ivy League Schools and a man who has since proven himself as a positive role model for all student athletes. Curtis Bray graduated from Gateway Senior High School in 1988. He went on to graduate from the University of Pittsburgh in 1992, with a degree in Economics. He has been a football coach at the High School and College levels for nearly 20 years. In 1999, Curtis was inducted into the Gateway Sports Hall of Fame, alongside Henry J. Furrie and Walter "Pete" Antimarino, for which the sports center and stadiums are named respectively. Curtis Bray is the model for what a Gateway High School student athlete should strive to become.
