Name: Charese Payne on Nov 22, 2003State: MICountry: USComments: I am 17 years old with a operator's license and i have to be in the house at 12am. I think that it is unfair because me being a teenager I like to hang out with friends and go places. I also I school events that may not end until after 12. What can I do about that situation I would feel really bad if I had to leave early and my other friends stayed. Curfews should be given by our parents not the state. Teenagers about 17 like going to high School clubs and sometimes things don't start getting fun until maybe later that night at the club. The government needs to let teenagers be teenagers and let them have some freedom and fun. Because keeping teenagers on curfews is prevented them from having fun and really enjoying themselves. I am tired of not being able to go certain places because I have to be in at a certain time. And one thing i hate is being timed whenever I go somewhere. My parents will stay "you see what time it is, be back by 12". Things like that gets to me but there's nothing I can do. But I hope and pray that this curfew changes for teenagers my age.Flag

Name: Bethany Kile on Nov 22, 2003State: ILCountry: USComments: My 16-year-old brother was coming home after some late night cat-fishing with his friends. My mom knew exactly where he was. He got pulled over, ticketed, and my mom had to come pick him up from the poice station. He had to go to court and pay over $100 in court fines. Enforcing his curfew was my mother's job, not the law's.Flag

ONe time i was coming out of a movie with my boyfriend and it started at 10:30 and lasted till about 11:45, starbucks was across the street so we made a stop. At 12:10 when we were leaving an officer came and asked why were out so late and we explained how we saw a movie and got starbucks. He "let us off" with a $15.00 fine.Flag

Name: Cyndi Mauldin on Feb 5, 2004State: ORCountry: USComments: I have been taken in once on a curfew violation and i personally think that there is no use for them. We were getting out late from a study session and i was the only one under the age of 18 at the time. They called my parents, who knew where i was, and they had to come and pick me up. It is ridiculous! I think that curfews should be set by parents...not by the government. If they want their kids in at that time then fine , but let the other parents of america choose what time they want their children home.Flag
