Name: Ashley Austin on Sep 21, 2003State: AZCountry: USComments: Last night a couple of friends and I were hanging out at the mall. It was only 10:00 when the police officers came to throw us out. We weren't doing anything bad, and most of the stores weren't even closed yet. My friend's parents were even in a nearby Starbucks. The police officers were rude even though we were very respectful. We tried to tell them that her parents were in Starbucks, but they told us we had to get a ride home right away. I was planning on spending the night at my friends house and her parents are very very strict. If they didn't have a problem with us being there, then I don't think the police officers have the right to tell us to leave. It is our parent's job to raise us and although many parents let their children run wild, the curfew laws apply to all of us, not just the kids that are causing the problems.Flag

Name: Jessica Bittle on Oct 27, 2003State: KSCountry: USComments: Although, i am 18 and have been for a while, i still find curfew laws to be unjust even though in my state they no longer effect me. If parents feel that their teenagers are responsible enough to be out later than the curfew then they should be able to stay out. it should be illegal for a teenager to be takin in for just simply being out late but doing nothing wrong. unlike what a lot of people think teenagers are not evil and are not the cause of all the problems in the world.Flag

Name: Kristy Leatherman on Nov 2, 2003State: WICountry: USComments: Even though I am no longer concidered a "minor" in my state, there are still some issues that I have had to deal with when I was concidered one. There's a law out there that says we are allowed our freedom of speech. We are also allowed the rights of assembly and Petition (Amendment 1). I say every "minor" out there should stand up for what they believe in. To hell with the curfew. No matter what the time limit is, before teens have to be in the house, there are still going to be individuals that want to stay out. I respect people like that (I was one of them). How do my parents expect me to be "a little more social" if I'm not even aloud to stay out past 11:00 Then again, in Wisconsin we are technically concidered adults when we are 17. But the still insist on giving us citations for being out too late. What's the point Not only does it suck for the younger teens out there, it also sucks for certain businesses. You know all those little gas stations around town, the ones that most teenagers go to, when they feel like getting something to eat. If we were allowed to be out later, there would probably be better sales/profit for those little businesses out there. So in the end, I think everyone would be benefited just a little if we didn't have that damn curfew law. I like to call it 'House Arrest', and that is what it feels like. I feel like my rights are being violated. The United States is shit to me. More like Underage Security. That's all they care about. Getting those teens off the streets, so they don't cause any more trouble. What a bunch of bull shit that is. Excuse my language. What else am I supposed to sayFlag
