We, the undersigned, believe the time has come for a culture change at the Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT). LADOT has a long history of
favoring movement of autos over quality of our neighborhoods, over
health, as well as over movement of transit, bicycles and pedestrians.
LADOT routinely improves intersections and streets for autos in ways
that make walking, bicycling and transit use more dangerous and
difficult. We need for LADOT to put people first, and to show
leadership in creating a balanced transportation system that supports a
healthy livable city. We need a LADOT that puts these issues first
whenever they make plans for changes to our streets. We applaud your
pledge to make Los Angeles the greenest city in the US. Your vision
for Los Angeles will never come to pass as long as the LADOT sees
moving cars as their primary mission.
We urge you, Mayor Villaraigosa, to show leadership in changing the culture at LADOT (or any successor agency).
Ridiculous how long this has gone on. Fix the traffic light timing already its dangerous for pedestrians and drivers alike.
