The petition
Wednesday, August 29th was probably one of my worst days on campus. I live about 10 minutes away from campus, and on this particular day, I arrived on campus 20 minutes later than usual. You all may have experienced this within the past year or so, but it has gotten to the point where teachers and students are arriving late to class. As a tax payer and a student, I believe this is unacceptable. Yes, some may argue that we must arrive on campus in a timely manner; however, how must one accomplish this when most students have other responsibilities prior to class. We should not adjust to The Home Depot Center! I find many visitors paying $20 to park in our lots whereas students pay $81. Not only are these visitors parking in our lots, but they are also being directed by event staff and CSUDH parking enforcement to park on our dirt roads in front of student housing. This is totally inequitable and unjust for those who try to do things “right.” What are we, the students, getting in return for this terrible inconvenience? Do we get compensated in any way besides a commencement ceremony on CSUDHs original property, which is now a tennis court and soccer field? I am afraid not. As for the citizens of Carson, I can only imagine what you may go through. I would like for you all to support this petition and offer feedback on how to help solve this problem. The data collected from this petition will be used for negotiation purposes only. If you want the administrators to hear your voice, the time is now!
