Name: Ms Smith on Jan 7, 2010Comments: Dear Mr Pelling, MP I agree we need more trams the overcrowing is unbearable from East Croydon to Woodside. I've believe the Croydon residents pay enough in taxes and we would appreciate more trams during peak hours to alleviate the overcrowing. Kindest regards, Ms SmithFlag

Name: Anonymous on Jan 7, 2010Comments: I feel that this problem is exacerbated by the scheme that allows school children to travel for free on the tram service. The trams are already above capacity and since the initiation of this scheme (which was intended just for buses) travel at peak times has been unbearable. As a season ticket holder I feel particularly aggrieved that I am often not able to board the tram, or crushed throughout my journey to work.Flag

Name: Karen White on Jan 13, 2010Comments: The tram situation is disgraceful. Over crowding is the norm and difficult to get on a tram at Blackhorse Lane and Addiscombe and not enough trams in the evening. If I'm out in the evening I could wait up to 20 mins for a tram and as a single woman travveling on my own it's not acceptable.Flag

Name: Colin Withey on Jan 14, 2010Comments: I have been involved from concept in 1950 to New Addington, 1962 to Wimbledon and 1969 to Sutton and Tattenham Corner which lead to the 1987 BR paper on conversion of many South London train services to tram. In 1989 I advised Scott McIntosh on the perameters for Tramlink in going forward to Croydon Council. 25 to 30 single artics (200 capacity) would be needed and to be of the type for addition of centrepieces if traffic exceeded expectation. Tramlink commenced two trams short ""to suit Ken Clark". Consideration should be given to future use of Bombardier Flexity 2 style cars and recommend that the first of these to Blackpool should come to Croydon for demonstation, due 2011. I do not recommend buying from an on-run of Edinburgh's CAF cars as these are little different from the Bombardier CR4000 we currently have. I never wanted this type of tram with its C-bogie articulation and distances between bogies. In 1996 I had hoped for an on-run of the Sheffield cars but again "Ken Clark couold not afford them". We still need at least two (ignoring the Crystal Palace extension).Flag

Name: Anonymous on Jan 26, 2010Comments: Trams! well in 2000 when they first ran ,the frequency was evey 3 minutes, then gradually to 5 minutes. From last year this frequency is now a stunningly efficient 11 to 15 minutes - This I call progress in our no longer Great Britain.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Apr 30, 2010Comments: There are real H&S concerns (in the event of an emergency) caused by the regular peak-time overcrowding. The intervals between approaching trams appear more prolonged than they once were. Also, one might accept the occasional spike in (over-)crowding at particular moments, but there appears everyday to be a long period (e.g. 08:15 all the way through to 09:30?) of overcrowding during the rush-hours.Flag
