Croydon School of Gymnastics will close on the 31st JULY 2007 if another suitable venue cannot be found. This club has been running since 1967 and celebrates its 40th Anniversary this year. It has produced some fantastic results over the years with gymnasts who have not only represented the borough and the region but nationally & internationally too. The club has searched long and hard to find another suitable venue but there is nowhere in Croydon or surrounding boroughs that can accommodate a club of this size with all its equipment. We therefore need to lobby the council hard and with numbers showing support, and this is where we need your help. We need as many people as possible to sign this petition to show the Croydon Council that people do want a dedicated Gymnastics Centre in Croydon. The council are going to spend 30 million for sport in the borough in two locations (Waddon & Coulsdon) yet no provision for gymnastics has even been considered. If you pay council tax to this borough then this is your money they are spending and you have a right to say what it is spent on! Remember Gymnastics is the basis of all sport and it can help so many sporting stars for the future! Spread the word get your friends and family to join and save this club. Croydon School of Gymnastics has recently been awarded GYMMARK by the national governing body, which only 200 out of 1200 clubs in the UK have received this award to date. The club has also produced a British Disabilities Champion and caters for all ages and abilities within Men\'s & Women\'s Artistic Gymnastics as well as Disabilities, TeamGym, Recreational Gymnastics including Pre-School and has a class that just caters for adults. It has even been to 3 world events with its display teams. The club currently has approx. 200 members and is desperately looking for another home to survive and to expand its gymnastic programme. If you love the club, gymnastics or just realise what a complete tragedy it will be if the community loses a club like this in Croydon, then please give it your support and sign this petition. We thank you for taking the time and trouble in reading this. Now please give your support and encourage as many people as possible to come to this site and add their support to our cause as well.
