Name: Anonymous on Jan 1, 2010Comments: All too often the main routes are cleared, but roads such as mine - Falconwood Road - with slopes at each end, remain unpassable for several days after any snowfall. Even overnight icing can render both ends of the road treacherous. This has to be one of the coldest corners of the county.Flag

Name: Ingrid Bass on Jan 10, 2010Comments: The icy conditions are life threating to older members of the community and I fell on black ice on the road outside my house. Resulting in head wound and concussion. Wait for ambulance over 3 hours. Waited over 2 hours in A & E. Home at after 5:30 pm. Transport home by minicab which after many enquiries (five) a car was called. a fellow patient who was in very bad pain through leg injurieswe went home in the same cab as she was not able to access transport. We had both been told we had to make our own way home. I was told could walk but fellow patient was not able to without assistance.Flag

Name: Colin Withey on Jan 14, 2010Comments: Whilst petitioning on the general point, I must congratulate the work of Croydon Council prior to Christmas when even Palace Green got a visit from the gritter so allowing a safe passage for the refuse men. I found both before and after Christmas that the pavements of the Town Centre and even those out here on the main roads in Selsdon and Addington had been gritted and cleared (even going on locally this am of the 15th.). Clearly a Government based on managing situations centrally has become too complacent through too long a time in office - maybe we need a change of Mandarins in the Civil service.Flag

Name: Lesley Stuart on Apr 13, 2010Comments: i was really impressed with Croydons services during the heavy snow. I managed to get to work. the trams were kept running and the roads were passable on the whole. the only failing was the special needs school transport. didnt run for a large part of the snow.why............ these kids missed nearly two weeks of school.the descion to stay in the depot and not take the children was left up to the contractor runnning the service. surely arrangements could have been made to get the children to a main road rather than give up all together.Flag
