We, the people of the Danville-Tassajara community, are asking the San Ramon Valley Unified School District to reconsider the boundary lines for Creekside Elementary. This request includes the following Danville communities which currently are diverted to Golden View Elementary in San Ramon: Tassajara Creek I, Tassajara Creek II, Vista Tassajara, Tassajara Ranch, and Shadowhawk. Reasons behind the request to redraw the boundary lines: 1. There are many in the community who report that when graduating to Diablo Vista Middle School, Golden View students lose friends and social groups because of the split between Iron Horse Middle School and Diablo Vista. 2. It can be difficult for our students to participate in activities and sports teams with classmates because of the Danville/San Ramon boundary lines. Even when eligible to participate, we are often required to pay more as we are “non-residents” of San Ramon. 3. The information that comes home at Golden View is San Ramon specific, and we are missing out on Danville opportunities. 4. We live in Danville, pay Danville property taxes, and otherwise support the community with our resources. We therefore feel that our children should be allowed to go to school in our community. 5. Families have chosen to move out of our neighborhood so that their children can attend schools within Danville boundaries. All neighborhoods directly across Camino Tassajara attend Danville schools. This disadvantage affects our property values, and subsequently the amount the schools receive in property tax. 6. Creekside Elementary's location will reduce carpool times by as much as half for the neighborhoods in question. 7. Sibling Priority is a major concern for those that are considering transfers to Creekside for the 2009-2010 school year.
