Comments: Towns people should have sucked it Up and Built the Plexiglass permanent structure that was proposed in 2010. We could have been swimming in the building while storm Charlotte was raging. Please if you are going to start your petition, Get your facts straight. Just because you are fed up with the pool doesn't give you the right to make up you own dollar figures. It did not cost hudreds of thousands of dollars for the mold mitigation. Phony numbers do not help your cause

Comments: It's time to turn the pool into a summer-only faciliity. This pool has never paided for itself and based on the problems its experienced it never will. It is an expense the people of Cheshire should not have to endure. With all the economic issues facing americans today I don't think a pool should be topping the list. Make it a summer-only pool. Send the swim teams back to the Academy.

Comments: Make the pool a summer only pool and stop wasting taxpayers money. We need a new waste management facility more then we need a cover for a pool.

Comments: The pool is a waste of taxpayer dollars. With people unemployed, going hungry and struggling to make ends meat, the town could find a better use of the money. The problem is they won't admit it was a mistake!

Comments: I did some research on some of the signed comments of this discussion. This issue should only be for Cheshire residents and be old enough to be paying taxes to have any say.

Comments: We have approx. 29,000 people in Cheshire. I'd like to know on a per daily average how many "Cheshire residents" use the pool? Also it's a shame that we as Cheshire residents were told that we cannot afford the monies needed approx. $40-50,000 dollars to have our bulk waste picked up every 2 years but somehow waste hundreds of thousands of dollars a year on supporting and maintaining our much touted pool. I'm willing to wager that there are thousands of Cheshire residents that would desire having bulk waste pick up than investing our hard earned tax money in the "money pit pool."

Comments: Enough is enough. It is time to either make it an indoor pool. Or seasonal. I don't use it and my taxpayer money keeps going into it. Oh and then we need to pay to use it too!

Comments: Cheshire has a a great resource with this pool. I personally have paid yearly non-resident membership for years and all of my children have taken swim lessons from some of the best instructors I have ever met. Multiply all this income by scores of swim moms, visiting teams and families traveling to Cheshire, who explore local shops and buy from local restaurants and I think you might see the benefits. Since the bubble burst, multiple championships have been held elsewhere, families like mine who have enjoyed visiting Cheshire weekly have less reason to go. Maybe, just maybe an outsider perspective might be helpful. Build a better swim structure and reap the economic benefits year round.
