| 52 | Mary | Call | SC | US | I suffer from a very painful and rare condition which affects all my joints. I was being treated by MUSC for three years until they told me they couldn't prescribe oral medicines because they were afraid of losing their license. I have been told to find another physician and everyone I had tried in the phone book on pain management only will use injections. I'm originally from Chicago and moved here for the less severe winters, now I can't find a doctor who will even look at me. I have a condition called multiple epiphyseal dysplagia which I've had all my life. I've had almost all my large joints replaced since I was in my 20's. I'm in constant pain, an 100% less active, and I don't even see a reason to get out of bed in the morning. When I was on pain medicine, I was my true self, a people person, outgoing and had a great sence of humor. My hope is at a all time low. I am 46 years old and I really need help finding a doctor who will help me. I live in Goose Creek, South Carolina. Someone please help. |

| 71 | Chestina | Duda | WY | US | My husband is suffering with RSD disease, which was caused by IV infiltration, drugs Demerol and Phenergan, infiltrated into soft tissue burning his sympathetic nervous system. The disease has spread, he is suffering day and night. He tried stimulator, nerve blocks, nothing helped. He is on Morphine and Oxycontin. If he did not have these drugs,he could not function, they take the edge of his pain,It is a very cruel and devastating disease, we do not have a life. Every day is a struggle. The West Park hospital is not taking any responsibility for destroying his life.We live in Cody Wy. I will not stop, untill we get justice. Our lawyer misled us, we never got to trial. He needs these drugs to survive. |

| 73 | aaron | smith | KY | US | I live in rural Ky. and the illegal drug of crystal methadrine has caused doctors to never prescribe pain medications unless your leg or arm has been cut off. I have too travel 240 miles just to see a doctor for my pain medication needs? I am 52 years old and I could care less about some addictive problems. I just need relief. Why is it this way? Are the alcohol distillers lobbying to keep people on alcohol to medicate themselves. When you go anywhere in southeastern ky. even orthopedics, and the first thing out of the receptionists mouth is "This doctor does not like to prescribe narcotics." What's the deal. I suffer from lower back chronic and sometimes acute pain. I also have bouts with RSD which the pain is unbelievable. If I can help or sign petitions or if someone can help me here, please feel free to email.
Thanks |

| 78 | Anonymous | Anonymous | CO | US | I am a chronic pain patient. |
| 79 | Anonymous | Anonymous | WA | US | I think some doctors or people in general think of a chronic pain patient as someone who has a lower threshold of pain. I do not. I endured pain forever because of my own misconceptions dispite my pain issues being fully documented by CT scan, blood tests and all tests as legitimate pain versus a low tolerance. Daily pain flucuates although it rarely ever goes away unless you are on drugs that can destroy your body such as prednisone. Just today I am actually looking up the meaning as I feel I has been wrongly labeled CCP-I think the klabel carries a stigma.. I have had numerous documented problems and waitted to take anything forever as narcotics gave me severe nausea . i did not think I could take them so refused them as I would vomit them up. . I endured severe pain from RA. I have been treated by doctors that are dismissive of other pain - dental , broken bones, pain complaints to the point it caused irreprable damege to my body and daily life. I think the people out there that are oversensitive to pain are out there as well as drug seekers- but they are less than the ones like me that have true real pain with no quality of life at all without treatment available. There are combinations of medications that are tolerable. The nausea goes away after a week or so. Doctors need to be educated to know how to treat a patient and not dismiss new complaints as -oh-just another thing to complain about. The silent enduring of pain is a very difficult situation, and the stigma of being labeled takes away ones idenity. It creates an embarrassment to even say what drug you are on to anyone. A cancer patient is not called a chronic pain patient but a cancer patient. Someone with true longterm well documented pain needs to be treated with the same respect as those that have pain for the first time in their lives are treated. That old scale of 1 to 10 needs to be revised so patients can truly understand it. I used to be asked that and said a 6 as I waas embarrassed to say the worst. I could not imagine the pain of a full body burn or whatever- I think the scale needs to be worked on. It needs to be more like the childrens one with the faces. I hope they figure something out to help differentiate who is who amongst patients so that people are not needlessly suffering. Thank You. |

| 82 | Alenna | Norton | IA | US | This "War on Drugs" is killing chronically ill patients. We can't always get relief from our pain because our doctors are too afraid to prescribe anything much stronger than Tylenol. Some are turning to suicide as their answer to stop/relieve the pain. That is SO sad, especially since there are medications that can help us LIVE a better quality life. I have already lost a doctor to arrest because the state didn't approve of his prescribing opiods. Another moved to another state that allows better treatment of pain patients. What am I to do when all the compassionate doctors are gone? How will I end up relieving my pain. You can STOP THE NEEDLESS DEATHS by helping us! What if I were YOUR CHILD, YOUR LOVED ONE, or YOU?! What would you want if you were in constant pain 24 hours a day, 365 days a year?! I imagine you would want a doctor to help ease the pain. That is all we ask. Let us have the medications that give us some form of a normal lifestyle. A tolerable pain level is all most of us are asking for. Simple access to the medication that makes our lives easier to live! |

| 96 | Sharon | Regan | OK | US | My brother and sister-in law are in pain daily for an accident. No one in Oklahoma wants to give them any medication to control his pain. They are scared to death that DEA will pounce on them. She has RSD but needs surgery to replace her knee but she can't endure surgery with the RSD. My brother has cronic back pain. Why is it they have to suffer when there are medications that could at least let them tollerate their pain? |
| 97 | Deborah | Younce | MI | US | I suffer from so much pain on a daily basis that one day I awoke and was afraid of what was going on. It was so odd my darling husband tried to get me to explain...after a while we realized I was feeling NO PAIN AT ALL. It was such a strange feeling I did not realize at first what it was. SOme days I want to throw it in and end my life, but I know eventurally it will feel somewhat better.
I miss me, and have lost who I was, an artist, a lover, a singer, a happy person. SOmetimes I wish the doctors would find cancer, at least then I would get the sympathy and pain relief I need to funtion from doctors. Debi Younce |
