Name: ARLA WOODS on Feb 2, 2003State:Country: CAComments: I AM SICK AND TIRED AND DISGUSTED TO HEAR THE AGONY IN THE VOICES OF MY AMERICAN FRIENDS SUFFERING SO MUCH PAIN. BEING CAREFUL ABOUT WHAT GOES ON IN THE STREETS IS RIDICULOUS WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING THOSE WHO WOULD BE GLAD TO FOLLOW DOCTORS ORDERS TO GO TO THE STREETS. DONT YOU HAVE OTHER THINGS TO STOP - LIKE GUNS....HOW DO YOU CALL YOURSELF A CIVILIZED COUNTRY, YOU ARE COMMITTING CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY IN TRUTH BY WITHHOLDING PROPER MEDICAL CARE TO THOSE IS SUCH DESPAIR---AND IT WOULD BE SO EASY TO HELP, UNLIKE OTHER SORTS OF THINGS. WHAT IS THE MATTER WITH YOU MY FRIENDS IN PAIN ARE REAL, GOOD, CARING, FAMILY STRONG, GOOD CITIZENS. ALL THEY WANT IS DIGNITY AND FREEDOM OF DEBILITATING, SUICIDAL PAIN, AGONY. YOU ARE RUINING THEIR FAMILIES, YOUR WHOLE WAY OF LIFE BY MAKING GOOD PEOPLE LIVE LIKE INJURED DOGS. WE DO NOT LET ANIMALS SUFFER LIKE THIS. DO YOU NOT THINK YOUR PEOPLE HAVE THE ABSOLUTE RIGHT TO GET WHATEVER IS DISCUSSED AND DECIDED BY THEM AND THEIR PHYSICIANS IN PRIVACY. FURTHERMORE, HOW DO YOU DICTATE TO THE DOCTORS HOW TO TREAT THE CONDITIONS OF THEIR PATIENTS WHO PUT THEIR TRUST, HOPE - VERY LIVES IN THEIR HANDS, ONLY TO BE TOLD THEY ARE AFRAID OF GOING TO JAIL - IF THEY HELP THEM STOP SUFFERING WITH CAREFULLY MONITORED MEDICATION PROGRAM. SHAME SHAME.... THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ARE GOOD PEOPLE, BUT YOU LAWMAKERS ARE SOME OTHER THING, AND YOU HAVE YOUR YOUNG GIRLS AND ALL YOUR IMMORAL THINGS, HOW ARROGANT, HYPOCRITICAL... AND SOO CRUEL... THINK ABOUT IT,,, IT COULD BE YOU... AND YOUR DOCTOR WILL SAY....SORRY BUT....Flag

Name: Bruce Meyer Williams on Jun 17, 2003State: MNCountry: USComments: We MUST stop the senseless abuse of chonic pain patient's nationwide. We all should start to stand up for ourselves in a unified effort to stop the senseless abuse of a very proud and fine group of people - who are needlessly and constantly being singled out by either the DEA or our Medical Boards. The senselessness of all this must stop. I urge ALL who read this to also make a statement and take the time to register their outcry here - in defense of innocent people who are being hurt daily - and for God's sake, let's start to think of ways to hold our "doctor's harmless." I urge any and all to not only sign this petition but to bring another family member here immediately to do the same. Thank You.Flag

Name: Richard Shannon on Jul 15, 2003State: MDCountry: USComments: A friend sent me this today as I was planning my suicide as the only possible way to end the pain. I've known for the longest time that there is no crueler, no greater inhumane treatment, no medical condition of any sort under such great scrutiny by the gestapo-like DEA, the heartless whitecoats worried about their jobs, the overeager political types doing anything to score "points", and others who have lost complete touch with reality and haven't a clue about what true compassion is. Every year, 1000s, maybe 10s of 1000s because we can't know, take their lives because they can no longer bear the pain. My heart goes out to every person who suffers so needlessly because of these people in positions strong enough to control others and are literally responsible for all of these deaths. Their hands are bloodier than any hands which have been in the greatest wars. They are more cruel than the cruelest of history. It goes on and on and on...yet the people still suffer such excrutiating pain that the suicides have no end. If there are any politicians out there who understand the simple meaning of empathy and sincere compassion, let them step forward to stop the insanity of a government gone mad. It will take courage, but as our young boys die because of their courage in following the orders of the older men and women so distracted by themselves, that light of courage should shine on them. I thank God I didn't commit suicide today, but what about tomorrow The day after And the one after that We can't know. Right now, we only know that this madness of men and women who treat compassion as an unknown and something foreign, HAS TO STOP!! May God have mercy on these unfeeling souls.Flag

Name: BETTY DUNN on Aug 24, 2003State: GACountry: USComments: I FET SO TIRED OF DOCTORS TREATING ME AS A DRUGGY BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN ON NARCOTICS FOR PAIN RELIEF FOR THE PAST 3 YEARS OF MY 6 YEAR BATTLE. I HAVE DONE AS EVERY DOCTOR REQUESTED TO GET CONTROL OF MY PAIN, NOTHING HAS WORKED EXCEPT FOR THE NARCOTICS.I MOVED FROM SC TO GA TO GO TO EMORY, FOR HELP, I HAD A WONDERFUL, CARING DOCTOR THAT READ ALL MY RECORDS AND KNEW THAT I HAD BEEN THROUGH HELL ON EARTH, SO HE CONTINUED MY PAIN MEDS, I HAD A LIFE ONCE AGAIN. I WAS ABLE TO BATHE MYSELF, DRESS, COOK, CLEAN, WALK SOME, AND BE A PART OF MY DAUGHTER'S LIFE, NONE OF THESE THINGS AND MORE I WAS NOT ABLE TO DUE UNTIL I WAS PUT ON NARCOTICS FOR MY CHRONIC PAIN RELIEF. I HAVE ALWAYS TOOK THE PRESCRIBED DOSAGE, NEVER BEEN HIGH FROM MEDS, AND FOLLOWED ALL MY DOCTORS ORDERS. MY DOCTOR MOVED FROM GEORGIA TO DC IN JUNE, I WENT TO SEE A DOCTOR THAT WAS IN THE SAME PRACTICE, ONLY FOR HER TO TREAT ME LIKE A DRUG ADDICT, TOLD ME THAT NO ONE SHOULD BE ON NARCOTICS. IF THAT WAS THE TRUTH THEN TELL ME WHY I BARELY WAS ABLE TO BREATH FROM THE SEVERITY OF MY PAINS BEFORE I WAS ON NARCOTICS, THEN WHEN MY DOCTORS PUT ME ON THE RIGHT DOSAGE OF NARCOTIC PAIN MEDS, I WAS ABLE TO HAVE A LIFE. IDO NOT WANT MUCH, BUT I DO BELIEVE THAT I DESERVE TO NOT BE IN CHRONIC PAIN. I HAD A BABY BY C-SECTION IN 97, INCISION OPENED UP, HAD 20 SOMETHING HOSPITAL STAYS AND MORE SURGERIE FROM WOUND, THEN I HAD TO BE CUT HIP TO HIP TO REMOVE DEAD FLESH, THEN WITHIN 2 YEARS I HAD 9 FAILED HERNIA REPAIRS, EACH LEAVING AN OPEN ABDOMINAL WOUND, I HAVE DDD, DJD, SUSPECTED SPINAL STENOSIS, 4 RUPTURED DISK, NERVE DAMAGE IN RIGHT LEG AND SCIATICA. I HAVE ENOUGH WRONG WITH MY BODY, I DON'T DESERVE TO CONTINUE TO BE ATTACKED FOR NEEDING ONGOING NARCOTIC MEDICINES FOR CHRONIC PAIN.Flag

Name: BONNI MARKISH on Feb 16, 2004State: PACountry: USComments: AFTER HAVING CEVICAL NECK SURGERY. 2 1/2 YEARS AGO I HAVE BEEN IN HORRIBLE ALL OVER THE BODY PAIN 24/7. I HAVE TRIED EVERY THING IN MEDICAL CARE AND BOTOX, PHYSICAL THERAPY, YOU NAME IT I HAVE TRIED IT.....BUT I HAVE OVER 47 DRUG ALLERGIES SO I CAN'T TAKE MEDS OF ANY KIND. I SUFFER EVERY DAY AND NIGHT WITH OUT A GOOD DAY. NO DR SEEMS TO KNOW WHY SO IF THERE ARE PEOPLE OUT THERE THAT CAN TAKE A DRUG OR WHAT EVER TO STOP PAIN, I AM WITH IT 100% I LIVE IT EVERY DAY AND WOULD GIVE ANY THING TO BE ABLE TO FIND SOMETHING THAT WOULD WORK FOR ME. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY DIFFERENT DRS. THAT MARIJUANA WOULD HELP ME BUT IT IS NOT LEGAL FOR ME TO TRY, EVEN IN A DR'S OFFICE TO SEE IF IT WOULD STOP THE PAIN! SO GIVE PEOPLE A CHANCE FOR AT LEAST A LIFE THAT IS TOLERABLE. DON'T MAKE DRUG LAWS AGAINST US, UNLESS YOU HAVE WALKED IN OUR SHOES! EVEN FOR A DAY! THANKS FOR LISTENING. PLEASE HELP US!!!!!Flag

Name: Christyann Duffy on Nov 20, 2004State: PACountry: USComments: Since 1998 I have been in chronic pain on the entire right side of my body due to a rear end accident where I was the victim. Prior to my accident I was a very atheletic energetic women, who swam, skied, hiked, drove race cars, and played with my 18 month old child at the play ground. Since the accident I can just about get out of bed, in the morning without wenching with low back lumbar pain, have sleep disturbed nights due to muscle spasms in my neck back and leg, and experience burning pain in my right arm and right leg every moment of the day. My pharmacist questions me with every precription I receive each month, I feel terrible asking to have my pain medication refilled, and feel terrible if I don't take my medictions. My life changed drastically after my accident, with out the ability to just have fun working out, or playing with my daughter, but worst of all my pain medication is being threatened and my fear is I will suffer more and consider shortening my life as I have thought of when the pain is so unbearable that I have to have ganglion or epidural blocks. The anxiety of being with or without pain management medication is overwhelming.Flag
