R. Zeke Fread, coordinator of Tampa Bay Coalition, http://www.tampabaycoalition.com/cppr.html , and chronic pain patient, along with other chronic pain patients, CPPs, are organizing a grassroots campaign to urge lawmakers to create a Chronic Pain Patient Registry, CPPR. With widespread abuse of pain medication by non-chronic pain patients. Physicians are reluctant to prescribe doses of medication needed to control the excruciatingly high levels of pain their CPPs endure, due to fear of FDA scrutiny and jeopardizing their license to practice medicine. This FDA scrutiny would be eliminated for registered patients physicians. Patients who suffer the devastating effects of chronic pain syndrome, will no longer be denied access to pain medication that controls their chronic pain to bearable levels. Greatly improving the quality of their and their families lives. President Bush\'s new campaign to curb abuse of pain medication by our youth, will increase restrictions on prescribing such medications. Increasing physicians fears of scrutinizing by the FDA, for prescribing required doses of pain medication for the excruciatingly high levels of pain their chronic pain syndrome patients suffer. Which will lead to an even high number of chronic pain patients, out of sheer desperation, to commit suicide. This registry will not only relieve suffering, but, save lives.
