I am an alumni of Batesburg-Leesville High an proud to say where I'm from when asked. When I'm asked where I'm from I say B-L and before I can say anything else this is what I hear "Oh that football town", lately it has really been hard to sat back and look at how things have become. Batesburg-Leesville has become a doormat to most schools now and things has never been this way. We use to have a football tradition that couldn't be duplicated. Friday nights in the town of Batesburg use be like a "ghost town". Now everyone is everywhere but the games. I talk to alot of people from all over SC and some of the things I hear is "all the talent you guys has had in Batesburg, but who do you have in college or where do they go after high school?" Um.....good question, what do our coaches do for student/atheletes to make them better people to become better adults? We lose students to rivals other schools and think it's because of the parents moving for other reasons other than the coach. No you don't provide a future for the guys and frankly I don't think you care. In the past we had a player really lead the state in interceptions and what reward did he get nothing, didn't even make the North-South game. We had a player go to University of Virginia and he did it through his parents making film and recuiting schools for him, a player walk on at University of Oklahoma State and he did it himself without the help of the coaches. My point is what are you here for? If what I am saying is incorrect I stand to be corrected, but give me some proof to support your concerns for OUR KIDS. A concerned alumni/Parent AB
