Comments: Couldnt believe to numbers of houses proposed. Right by the school. What about possible flooding? Water already runs off the field into road when it rains.

Comments: Capel Street cannot take this development, it will be a death trap waiting to happen, single lane traffic and no pavements from school to development!!!!!!.

Comments: I feel capel street is an inappropriate location to put this housing estate. Lack of amenities within the "village" would mean more car usage to local towns as the nearest bus stop is over half a mile away. the children walking to school risk their lives everyday, weaving in and out the traffic as there is no footpaths and the road narrows to a one lane track. This will mean more traffic, pollution and accidents. The proposed site often floods into the road and the drainage is often unable to cope and will be made worse by this development. Having a new build estate the houses will not be in keeping/ sympathetic to the rest of the street.

Comments: It's the development in capel street that worries me. I have family that live in the village and my niece already has to be so careful waling to school as there is no path. I have also had to drive through deep puddles when its rained. How will drains cope when concrete, tarmac walls etc are added to the field? The water will go straight into the narrow street.

Comments: Our main concerns are: capel street too narrow for added traffic, capel school too small, poss flooding from land onto capel street, no footpath, too near school entrance and we have no real amenities anyway...one shop, pubs, village hall.

Comments: Capel cannot cope with an increase in inhabitants in terms of infrastructure. The roads will be busier, making it less safe for children already living in the area and the school would have to be extended. Capel is a village known for it's natural beauty and if these development plans go ahead both the status it holds as a village and an AONB will no longer be applicable.

Comments: Capel is a lovely village. Building these new dwellings will make Capel street a lot busier especially as they want to build near the Capel Primary School. All of this traffic could but the young students in danger as there is only a small path. These dwellings will decrease the price of my house. I also believe that there will now be litter in Capel. Capel will no longer remain a village, it will be a 'small town' which could mean that a mini store will also be built. Capel is a lovely village with beautiful surroundings. It will ruin Capel.

Comments: I have recently found infrimatoon in a Historical publication titled Reflections of Arran 1852-1982 Published 1982 by Stan Brown Printers Lt., Owen Sound, ON. I've had it in my own library for many years. On page 14 there are two pictures with a caption beneath: The Sauble River flows under one of Arran's drumlins and a concession road. Above Harvey McCurdy points to where the river goes underground on the farm of Mel Proud, Lot 33, Con. 6.Below It re-emerges on Lot 32, Con. 7, farm of Alfred Brunton. What I'm wondering is how many more underground tributaries are in not just Arran, but also in Saugeen Shores area? Certainly, this would be a negative factor in the siting of the DGR.
