If you are an American who wants more accurate and timely credit report listings so your credit rating improves, sign this petition!
In these times of gradually declining economic indicators, it is all the more essential we have accurate and up-to-date credit reporting. The Fair Debt Collection Act has come a long way in protecting consumers rights but there is still a long way to go.
One of the easiest and most beneficial things we can do to help not only our individual consumer credit ratings but, also, our nation's economy as a whole would be to demand our credit reports be updated to reflect payments within five business days. The current law allows an entire month and, often, it takes even more time before we see results. In this technological age when we can see bank transactions within seconds and communicate around the world in real time via internet autonomy, I would think updating one's credit report in a week or so would be perfectly reasonable.
We live in a modern, technological marvel of a world and what I am proposing is perfectly reasonable. It would also motivate more debtors to pay their bills more quickly as they would see results in a timely fashion.
The current process of paying a bill and then hoping, wishing and waiting for our credit to POSSIBLY be updated in thirty, sixty, ninety days or more is preposterous and damaging to us economically as individuals and as a country.
This is a plea to collection agencies, credit bureaus and the powers-that-be which regulate them: PLEASE update your systems to allow for accurate and timely credit reporting.
If YOU as a hard-working American wish to see more timely and accurate credit reporting, please sign this petition!
Thanks.
