Comments: Cornwall should be happy to welcome any new industries that come to our area. This will boost our declining economy. It is a sad injustice to the community if Cornwall loses the chance for more job creations. The new Home Depot did not cause a problem for the new housing area located near it. Therefore the new superstore would not have been a problem either. Shame on City Hall for allowing a few people to take away jobs from our city.

Comments: If 50 people don't want it, they could always move, I'm sure there are many that would like the convenience of living in close proximity to such a development. By not developing north of Tollgate once again we will be invisible to to travelers on the main highways / roads through Cornwall. We need new councilors with a new vision of growth.....

Comments: The Smartcentre would create jobs and offer the cititzens of Cornwall opportunites so we would not have to travel to the U.S. for savings. It would be better to keep the money in our community while offering us the savings!

Comments: I think turning down the Smart Centre location was a big mistake on moving this city forward. If people want to go to a SmartCentre they are going to truck over the bridge to Malone, NY and take their dollars (which are close to parity) with them.

Comments: You bet they made a mistake, when my teens spend money and want big box stores they go to Brockville, Montreal or Ottawa, which in turn has them buying all other things in local stores in those locations. If people want big box they'll go looking for it and drive, and spend. If Cornwall doesn't offer it, why go! Why waste a Sat just going to all the specialized smaller stores we like with the down to earth people then jumping into the car and going to another city to finish at big box. Time is money that's why we go to a larger center that we can get both, large and small stores in one trip. My teens are the future shoppers and future homeowners, business owners etc... this is just Greed Greed Greed. Work to put this city together not send people away. Let's get to the bottom of who influenced behind doors, who wants companies to come in and use land that's owned by certain corporations... greed.

Comments: Brookdale is the major link between the 401 and the U.S.A. It is only natural for that section to grow. I do not understand why Cornwall would want to block growth and the creation of jobs. There is always going to be someone that has the opinion of...."not in my backyard."

Comments: I think this city is stupid to turn down a Walmart superstore if they move out of town. this city will have no more Walmart . I think what this city needs is something like this to bring in more jobs for Cornwall. Also this city needs better council members and a better mayor. Just because one little sector of Cornwall opens there big mouths and complains that the Walmart company wants to build a big superstore right at the corner of tollgate road and Brookdale. The city turns it down how stupid is that why don't you people you make up a little paper and send it in the mail to everyone that lives in the city of Cornwall and have them mail it back to get your votes that way. Then maybe you will be surprised by the outcome of how many people use Walmart. I'm sorry to say but this city is going to the dogs. there is nothing in this town anymore for anyone too do.

Comments: Why are we supporting Team Cornwall to go out and search for industry and businesses to come to Cornwall, and then in the same yeay say no to potential further development and increased retail footage is a mystery. Would the tax revenues not make sense Boggles my mind how a few vocal citizens can influence the council so greatly.
