PLEASE SHOW YOUR SUPPORT IN THIS PUSH FOR GREATER ACTION BY SIGNING THIS PETITION AND CIRCULATING IT FAR AND WIDE. Thanks!Flag

Name: Xin Han on May 1, 2007Comments: 3 of my peer students in humanities have left Cornell without finishing their degrees and all of them are from China. They seem to have left for reasons that are beyond academic concerns. And one of them has been attempting suicide. As a small town in the middle of nowhere, Ithaca doesn't provide a friendly setting for Asian residents as required by such a world-class institution as Cornell. After the virginia tech tragedy some Asian students have felt threatened when driving in town. I personally think Cornell needs to make more efforts to change this by sponsoring or hosting more outreach programs on Asian American things, considering more than 30% Cornelllians are of Asian heritage.Flag

Name: Travis Jiang on May 1, 2007Comments: Pardon my bluntness, but if these individuals who are afflicted with such issues were African American or Hispanic American, I know action would be taken much more quickly. Too liberal I thought this university was a liberal bubble Or is it selective liberalism in which Asian Americans are excluded because we are not "underrepresented" *rolls eyes at the hypocrisy*Flag

Name: Anonymous on May 1, 2007Comments: While these service would benefit the Asian/Asian American community at Cornell, I feel that these measures are segregating the Asian population from the rest of the Cornell population. I agree with demands 3, but demands 1 and 2 seem as if we are favoring Asians. Please make this Community Center home to all other ethnic organizations and have a program that fostered cross-cultural relationships. To demand 2, it would be nice if there was an "assistant dean" to address the needs of other ethnic populations as well.Flag
