In response to the 2004 Asian and Asian American Task Force Report, we strongly urge the Cornell University administration to take a more proactive role in providing greater academic, professional, and social resources aimed at supporting the well-being of the Asian and Asian-American student population at Cornell, which comprises almost 20 percent of undergraduates and over half of graduate students. In particular, we support the following demands:
1. Creation of a centrally located Community Center
2. Creation of an Assistant Dean position devoted to the Asian and Asian American population
3. Expansion of the Asian American Studies Program to Department status
This is a collaborative effort of a group of student leaders representing various Asian and Asian-American organizations and initiatives, dedicated to improving the well-being of the Asian and Asian-American student population at Cornell University.
