| 401 | D. Wisniski | I'm willing to get a petition going to forever ban the movie...on any and every format! Any takers? | |
| 402 | Star56 | Vanilla was the victim of the dreaded "backlash" that happens to some very successful acts. You have an album/song that is a monster success. Soon the press and fans start to turn on you....once it begins...it is almost impossible to stop.
The most infamous example in the history of the music business is the The Knack in 1979. In late 78, early 79 every and I mean every record company wanted them. The underground press raved about them in L.A. They were the hottest live act in L.A. Everyone wanted to jam with the band live...long before they released an album.
Get the Knack is a monster success. A power pop masterpiece. Soon they are attacked by the very press that lauded them. They are labeled as pedophilic, mysogynist and fakes.
By Jan 1980 they were finished despite releasing two more albums on their original contract.
The Ice man had a similar backlash...he was labeled as a fake and fraud. Truth is he really could dance..and had developed a big club following before he hit the big time.

| 403 | wrwine3 | If they do release it on Blu-Ray, maybe it will kill that format and we get to start this mess all over again with two new formats.
Nah, it wasn't THAT bad.
| 404 | scowl | The problem was that Van Winkle wanted us to believe his persona, that he was a genuine bad boy rapper from the mean streets of where ever. Generally when artists want to pull this off they separate their stage persona from their real personal life and the press usually accepts this. Van Winkle wanted everyone to believe he really was this fictitious Vanilla Ice we see in the movie, not some middle class white guy.
One important thing about the movie: it was shot by Janusz Kaminski who would later shoot all of Spielberg's famous films. | 01 |
| 405 | dysfunction56 | Did you see the Surreal Life episode when he did karaoke to Ice Ice Baby? I am not a Vanilla Ice fan, but I thought that was cool of him. I want his movie on Blu-Ray!!! | |

| 414 | dkrug@tband.net | Excellent! I'm a huge fan of VIP! | |
| 415 | Clyde Penquin | FACTS ABOUT VANILLA ICE:
He was the "Milli Vanilli" of his day. A sort of 'pet rock' with a
really stupid haircut.
His 'career' lasted about 10 minutes, sometime in the early 1990s.
He proclaimed himself a white rap star, and a handful of pre-teen
girls actually bought his CDs. I refuse to sign this stupid petition or do ANYTHING to support such losers.
| 416 | Ken Wilson | http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/coolasicebluray ... I can see the head lines, "Coming to a bathroom stall near you." | |

| 420 | Greg Carr | Actually his song was a rip off of a Queen song and he was never a
gangster he was from a middle class area and never caused any trouble.
Made huge money though. | 01 |
| 421 | J Brockley | Just wait a little while and Blu Ray recorders will be cheap enough so you
can record it yourself off video tape.
| 422 | Richard Brooks | I think he's planning to do a film where he runs an ice cream parlour
with Pee-Wee Herman. All jokes (if any) have been removed allowing
him to keep repeating "I'm for real. I'm from 'The Block'" so
everyone gets to call him Jenny. | 01 |
| 423 | sebrady@thegrid.net | Vanilla Ice Posse (VIP) is a truly irritating bunch of people but I LOVE Vanilla Ice. Sue | |
| 424 | Flinstoneyerfired | Vanilla Ice and Rick Astley (jeez, talk about another musical
nadir) were never seen together- hmmm.
| 425 | David Eduardo | Dunno why everyone calls him a loser. Don't forget his first CD sold over 6 million copies. | 01 |
| 426 | Rick N. Backer | When they released his greatest hits collection the CD was blank. | 01 |
| 427 | sweet sawdust | I didn't think there were that many vanilla ice fans in the world. | |
| 428 | rockon02@chariot.net.au | i'm sick of being called a dildo | 02 |
| 429 | Bill Stahly | his song was a rip off of David Bowie. | |
