The Continuum School Canvey Island is set to close on 22nd July 2011. This is a devastating blow to our students and their families. All of our children have Statements of Special Educational Needs with regard to Emotional, Social and Behavioural difficulties. Before attending The Canvey Island School all of the pupils had been excluded from previous education, now the majority of them have increased their attendance by 75% or more, and look forward to coming to school. The school has provided the opportunity for the students to access accreditations and recently sat their exams in English and Maths, and completed coursework towards their science exams. Alongside this academic progress we have developed a vocational programme where students have excelled. This is the only school where these students have demonstrated any success.
