    Comments: Probably THE most selfless man I have ever met. Like many young people I spent a lot of time with him at the Salvation Army in Hexham where he was Young People's Sargeant Major for many years running the Sunday School, the Singing Company, the Band and even the youth club on a Friday night. I cannot think of anyone more deserving of recognition. I got to see him again a few years ago; what a pleasure.

    Comments: I'm 43 years old and was born into the Salvation Army. Uncle Ernie was there then and still is now. he was the sergeant major who ran Sunday school as well as leading the band. he has dedicated his life to helping others, it really is time that he got some recognition for all he has done.

    Comments: Uncle Ernie is an "uncle" to many people in Hexham, due to his unconditional care and kindness, he certainly has a huge heart. He has had a huge influence on the person I am today. I know Uncle Ernie is a humble man and he doesn't do anything for a reward but I feel that at the age of 91 he should know the impact he has had on so many lives. I hope in some way he also gets the chance to see all the comments that have been shared.
