Today, I just went to a tennis tournament in Katy ISD, and by their school sizes you can tell they are way richer than FBISD, and yet WE are the ones wasting 18.2 millions dollars on something as pointless as an Ipad? With all due respect, but are you kidding me? There has got be something better you can do that kind of money.Student or Community Member:Flag

Name: Jonathan Haj-Elias on Feb 22, 2012Comments: While the upgrade-ability is one of the glaring advantages at what cost does that advantage come at? When a student misplaces a textbook, spills water, or rips a textbook he/she is forced to pay for it. I highly doubt that many students would be happy paying the $500+ for an ipad and probably extra for the software textbooks in it. Also, a student would be much more likely to "skim" through pages due to ease of scrolling on an iPad. Lastly, a backlit LCD screen is no replacement for E-Ink or pages as they cause an increased amount of eye-strain.Student or Community Member: StudentFlag

If you really care about learning technology, you would, as the petition states, improve upon current assets and in addition teach the students linux. This is a sad excuse and a horrid excuse using children to spend 18million just to feel trendy. I hope this will be taken seriously, coming from a fellow Student of society.Student or Community Member: StudentFlag

Comments: This is reckless and unnecessary spending of money which could be use on other much needed technological improvements. 2nd to 8th grade students will not improve much, if at all, by using iPads to assist in their learning and there's a good chance many of them will be broken or vandalized, wasting the money.Student or Community Member: StudentFlag -

Name: Kevin Tran on Feb 23, 2012Comments: I believe this is reckless spending as I have had firsthand experience with iPads in a classroom environment, and they DO NOT serve as an overall productivity booster. Keep in mind that we have undergone multiple crises regarding budgets for paper and printer toner, and spending over $18,000,000 on iPads will not solve anything worthwhile (except for letting kids play Angry Birds during class, perhaps).Student or Community Member: StudentFlag
