As you all know, at Aston Villa we are all very proud of our historical achivements and previous successes, weather it be the leauge cup, FA cup, the European cup or the intertoto, we have won them all & are very proud of it to!! Alot of our success can be accredited to Ron Saunders who guided Villa to promotion to the First Division (as runners-up in the Second Division) in his first season as manager, also winning the League Cup.He became the first manager to guide 3 different club to the League Cup Final in 3 successive years. He established them as a strong First Division club, winning the League Cup again in 1977. In 1980–81, he guided Villa to First Division title glory for the first time in 71 years. He resigned from Villa on 9 February 1982, due to a disagreement with the board over his contract. At the time, Villa were mid table in the First Division but in the quarter-final of the European Cup. His assistant Tony Barton took over, guiding them to European Cup glory four months later Liverpool, Man United, Stoke City and Leeds United, to name but afew have all commemorated their hero's of old, as we should at Villa park. This petition is to be sent to Randy Lerner to show how passionate we feel about this matter! UTV
