This petition was created exclusively as an example for our Comm 103 class at SDSU. This petition demands prison reforms that would create a more sustainable future in America. Research has shown that recidivism rates in America are great, that almost 67% of inmates return to prison within 3 years of their release. In order to improve the effectiveness of the United States penal system, we ask that a more restorative system be implemented, allowing prisoners to repair the actions that they've committed, as opposed to punishing them for what they've done.
