they listened and we actually got the name changed back to include our counties. massive thanks to everyone who pushed for this because we couldnt have done it without the community support. gonna keep an eye on things to make sure the transition stays on track now.
The merger of the "Columbia County Northern Dutchess MLS" and the "Greene County MLS" is a major accomplishment and we greatly appreciate the hard work of the Merger Committee to make this a reality.
However, the name chosen by the committee for the merged entity: "Upper Hudson Valley MLS," is inaccurate and misleading, making the search for real estate in our area more confusing and difficult.
Upper Hudson Valley suggests a northern region - the Capital Region and beyond - and by definition does not include Dutchess County.
In addition, all of us have worked very hard to foster name recognition of our respective counties to potential buyers from outside our area, especially to those from downstate New York. When consumers use the web to search for real estate in our area, they use county names to find us.
We insist that we keep our county identities in the name of our merged MLS and suggest the more accurate "Columbia Greene Northern Dutchess MLS." This name contains the same number of characters as the current "Columbia County Northern Dutchess MLS," replacing "County" with "Greene."
Totally agree. Clients search by county name every single day. Changing it to something generic is going to hurt our business.

Columbia Greene Northern Dutchess makes perfect sense. Why make it harder for buyers to find us?

The new name is so confusing. Keep it simple and stick to the counties so people can actually find the listings they want.

Dumb change. We worked way too hard building our local brands for you to just wipe them out like this.

Please listen to the agents. We know our market better than whoever picked this name.
